I'm Back!!!
Hey All,
I had my surgery on March 2. Everything went well and very uneventful. I want to thank everyone who emailed me. I am doing great just started walking and is doing very good with that aswell. My only problem is getting down all my protein that I need. So far since surgery I have lost a total of 20 pounds. I am thankful for the first 20.
How much did everyone lose in there first month and what was the first thing you tried to eat when you started with the regular foods.
Any advice on how to get all my protein down in one day with this small pouch?
Thanks again
Montego
Hi Mo, Congratulations on getting through surgery! Welcome to the losing side!!
It is hard right after surgery to get all the protein down - just do your best and it will get easier. My first month I lost about 35lbs if I remember correctly - after that it gets slower lol!! But don't judge yourself by other people - everyone is different and some lose slower and faster than others...
When I could eat regular foods I started with eggs, chilli and soft foods and then progressed to more normal foods - but whatever you have please make sure you chew chew chew and that it is juicy protein and not dry because if it gets stuck you will feel like you want to die for about 20 mins...
Don't eat salad right now - try to eat protein as much as you can, then veg - soft veg and then your starches/carbs like potatoes etc
Good luck and remember we are always here to help

Welcome to the losing side Mo. Glad to hear things are going well. Try not to compare your loss to others. I started doing that and was so frustrated because I was a slow loser, but here I sit now, 16 months out and I just hit goal two weeks ago. On the protein, just keep trying. It is normal to not be able to get everything in the beginning. I did a lot of eggs, tuna, chili, cottage cheese, beans, and such when I was on my soft pureed foods. When I switched over to regular food, I really tried everything (healthy of course) and just took it slow and gauged how my body reacted. Keep up the great work.

MO-
Welcome back and congrats on your first 20 lbs!
You've recieved some good advice. I lived on peanut butter, cottage cheese, SF applesauce and beans the first bit after surgery. They were soft and didn't make me want to gag.
Focus on doing as much as you can...have a protein shake...it counts toward your liquids as well as your protein!
