VERY UPSET over Story
Well for whatever reason nobody has posted here about Kats story in the People magazine, I alone with Im sure other am offended to her remarks about the conference being a drunk fest # I dont drink I was there last summer at the Boogie & Splash and I learned alot and I seen and heard alot, then is when I heard about Kats remarks and stepping on peoples toes then, and then having the nerve to show up, but I knew nothing to what was going on then, But now Im mad, I was there and I PAID for the SAT. event in Richmond this year to learn and I enjoyed meeting with my friends and learning new things and the lunch was awsome David and NAtalie put many hours and alot of sweat and pain into these events for us. And this is the Thanks they get. To be publicly humiliated in a Natitional magazine alone with adding that we all went there to drink and party. Ha If I recall Kat was the one who was gathering everyone who was staying in town that night to go w/ her to so place after the event was over so who are you to point fingers at ANYONE but yourself. You have issues you need to take them up w/ your problem not the people who were your friends and cared about you looked up to you and now all this. Im livid. And I will tell you here you have been removed from all my friends lists, and I hope you enjoy your new found stardom alone becaue you dont deserve any of us here at OH to even acknowledge you in a bathroom. Well thanks for letting me vent I just feel that Kat is in the wrong here and dont see her purpose of using her isues to make others out there who are looking into Gastric bypass or any WLS that there gonna become a Alcoholic, because Im here to tell the world this is NOT TRUE!!!!!!!
Kuddos to you Melissa. Jackie wrote a letter to to Kat today. I replied as well. It seems she can't take the heat. Because she requested that OH pull that post. What nerve. She insults all of us in a national magazine the cannot be accountable. What balls she has. Go run and hide.
We will have to see how long this post last before she gets it pulled.

How awesome of her to allow herself to be interviewed by a national magazine, yet not allow it to be discussed here!
That's just really super of her.
WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF???
If you don't want to have it discussed - maybe YOU should quit OH - or keep your big mouth shut.
YOU GO GIRL !!!!!
I am not a alcoholic as well and i have no addictions because of wls.
i am addicted to life and loving in because of this surgery!!!
this women needs to get A LIFE!!! and stop blaming the world and the surgery for her problems.
ITs called ownership sweetie !!!
look it up you might actually learn something!!!
take responsiblity for your actions and problems...
i hope she knows all the people she has hurt just to get 5 mins of fame!!!!!
and all the friends she has lost!!!
I hope she also knows she is no longer welcome by any means to any of these events and it would be a bad bad idea for her to even show her face there.
or shall i say SNEAK IN THERE with out paying!!! clasic KAT!!!
i also hope that none of this has natalie or david second guessing another conf.
there are alot of us who appreciate everything they do!!!
I can tell you this i would be lost without all of you guys!!! with some exceptions and you know who i am speaking of!!! i can do without them!!!
i am sure she will have this pulled because she can di**** out but cant take it when she is confronted about her LIES!!!!

Hi there-
I'm sure this will NOT be a popular response, but I feel it needs to be said. The article tells Kat's story. It, I'm sure, was not meant to be a personal attack on the time spent by David and Natalie putting together the conferences. In fact, the article does not specify the conference at all, only those that know Kat will know the details. The conference referenced in the article was the winter conference in 2006, not the summer one. I for one did not attend, but do remember hearing more about the partying and drinking than about the more positive sides of the conference (speakers, etc). It was a big topic after the conference...well played out for all involved. I'm sure at the conference there was a balance, I'm sure there were people who didn't drink at all.....BUT, again, this was Kat's story and experience at the conference. I for one am glad that it happened the way it did so that she can now be living a healier life as a sober woman/mom.
The topic of addiction tranfering is a serious one that many WLS patients face, to varying degrees. I would hope that people on this site would see that side of the story and be glad that people like Kat and the other women featured are willing to show that side of the journey.
It's sad that Kat cannot celebrate her healthier her with us on this site. I for one would hope that those of you that have issues similar to this would find more compassion than hostility if you were ever brave enough to put that much of yourself into an article for a national magazine. Also, I hope that those of you that are having a strong negative reaction to the story would look inside and truly examine why you are having the reaction. When I heard about the story and even after I read it I was proud of Kat. I was proud that she was so willing to be honest with her experince and share it as a warning for pre-ops that may be considering the surgery as something that *could* happen, just like having to have your gallbladder out or having your marriage fall apart due to WLS.
Again, I know my response is not a popular one, but I really feel like it needed to be shared. And as for Kat asking for posts to be pulled, I'm sure that since this whole topic was covered with much drama just after the January 2006 conference, she doesn't want to have to go through all that again...and honestly, why would anyone else? It's her story, her experience, and her place to talk about it in a magazine if she chooses.

Susan-
You can send me what you think I need to know if you feel like it. I just sent you my personal email address.
I just hate seeing anyone being attacked on a site that is meant for support...and the story, in my opinion, didn't attack anyone personally, it simply said that she was at a conference that in her opinion was a drunk-fest. You're right, I wasn't there, nor have I been to any of David and Natalie's events. I did go to the OH conference in Kentucky and I can tell you that some of the behavior I saw by people that also attended the local events has turned me off from going to any in the future. My persception...my choice....
