Chele,
Congrats, I am so excited for you! Dr. Anez and Sally and Tiffany, Tina and Judy are realy going to take good care of you. Fair Oaks Hospital is wonderful too!
I was lucky to find my favorite proteins pretty early on. For some of us that was the toughest part, finding protein that you can tolerate. If you like bananas try this:
Banana Smoothie -1/2 banana sliced frozen, 1 cup skim milk, a splash of vanilla extract, 3 Splendas and a scoop of Unjury Unflavored Protein powder. Blend in your bullet. I think it's pretty close to a banana milkshake. You can add ice or more banana to make it thicker. My other favorites are Dutch chocolate Isopure powder mixed with water or milk, 27.5 Grams of protein per scoop. I think this is kind of yohoo flavored, mixed with water and much tastier then most chocolate protein powders. I love AchieveOne coffee flavored pre mised in bottles for when I'm on the go.This is by mail order and is expensive but good. I like the AcheiveOne Cappuccino or Mocha Java, don't like Vanilla Nut, too artificially flavored!
Try to go to the Staple club meetings before your surgery, You will learn so much. Staple Club meets tomorrow at Loudoun Hospital at 7:00. I will be there, I hope to meet you!

Ann,
Thanks so much for the kind words and the smoothie tips...bananas are a favorite with me, so your recipe sounds right up my alley. I'm doing the protein research now...I've already gotten the sample box from Unjury (they're quick!) and although the chicken packet is not going to make my top ten, the strawberry is quite good...maybe with a banana??? And with me, you can never go wrong with chocolate! I've also taken a liking to the Worldwide Nutrition premixed cans from Trader Joe's. Sally at Dr. A's office turned me on to those and I keep a few in the car for days that lunch is only a fleeting thought...and it gets me by. You'll have to tell me where I can find the AchieveOnes and the dutch chocolate powder you like...I feel shopping coming on!
I'm planning to attend the Staples meeting in Loudoun tomorrow night - I look forward to meeting you. Have a great evening!
