I can't POOP....
jOIN MY cONSTIPATED cLUB....
Seriously: I take 1 peri-colace every morning and evening (stool softener with laxative). I used to take Milk of Mag every other day, too. This was the only way to get things moving. Benefiber gave me a terrible impaction.
NOW, I eats lots of dried fruit. Lettuce is also a great help. I still take the peri-colace, but rarely have to use the MoM. Also, I grow figs and have been eating dried fig bars every day. It takes a LOT to keep me regular.
Good luck,
Lois

Thanks,
I have been doing great. So far I have lost 24 pounds which is good but my biggest problem is that I stay hungry all the time. I just can't figure out how to keep from being hungry. It is hard still to get in all the protein drinks that I have. I am down to 40 grams of protein a day but I know I have to get in more.
I am going to call my surgeon, it is rough when you can't go...
Thanks
Mo
I used to have a lot of that problem in the beginning too. Stay away from the juices as they have too much sugar in them and do not really help. They may even make you dump and that is worse. What I used to use when I was bad, was take a colace stool softner or two before bed, ate more fiber and changed my iron pills to TenderIron from Vitalady - plus drank a lot, lot, lot of water to get things moving again. Now my constipation is not too bad.

water, oatmeal, and water. I had kidney quit on me my 2nd week out and it was cleared up with antibiotics and water water water. It keeps the kidneys pumping. Jacquie T is right on with my experience and she has the female perspective I don't.
Some of the guys with those problems also suggest flaxseed oil (pill or liquid) and mineral oil mixed in with something to drink but that sounds nasty to me.
I also second getting the WLS surgeon involved so they can be aware of your plight should anything more significant develop, like hernia potential from the strain!
Best of luck,...hope everything comes out OK (sorry, bad humor).
