Easter Dessert

Ok....since I have to bring dessert for Easter, I have been working hard to come up with an idea. Well....I did it and thought I would share. I haven't figured out the values on it yet, but it can't be too much. Strawberry Triffle 1 - Sugar Free Angel Food Cake (purchase at Walmart or Farm Fresh) 2 - Pkg of French Vanilla Sugar Free Pudding (Instant) 4 - Cups of Skim Milk 2 - Cups of Sliced Strawberries 1 - Container Sugar Free Cool Whip Prepare pudding as directed and set aside. In a pretty glass bowl (mine is clear), take the angel food cake and break it up into bite size pieces pieces, cover the bottom of the bowl. Pour/spread 1 cup of pudding on top. Add 1 cup of sliced strawberries on top of the pudding. Add 1/2 cup of the Cool Whip on top of the pudding. Do another layer of the cake/pudding/strawberries/whipped cream. Make sure that you spread everything to the edges of the bowl and that you do not mix the ingredients together. You want to layer them. Finsih your layering with the whipped cream on top, and them garnish with strawberries (either whole or sliced) on top. Since there won't be many people at our family get-to-gether, I'm doing this recipe in half (not sure what I'm going to do with the other 1/2 cake, yet) and putting it into parfait glasses. Also, you could change this up a bit by using lemon pudding and fresh blueberries. Chocolate pudding and fresh rasberries might be interesting (or no fruit at all), vanilla pudding and mandarin orange and pineapple. The possibilities are endless..............

Yum, sounds great. I may make it and eat it all myself. I am craving something good but I will not touch sugar. I was kidding, I would not be able to eat it all but I think I will try this for Easter to take to my sister-in-laws house. Thanks, and have a blessed Easter. Donut

That sounds really good, my in-laws all love strawberries so they would like this! But wouldn't the cake get soggy with the pudding on top? I have never had a triffle, so I don't know. Personally, I would like the vanilla pudding with mandarin oranges and pineapples. Those are my 2 favorite fruits! I can eat a whole can of mandarin oranges. Thanks! Stacy

The cake doesn't necessarily get soggy, but is a little moist. Not as wet as ice cream with cake. More creamy. Does that explain it?????

Also, the pudding would be set befor eyou put it on the cake. Remember, it's the instant kind. Not the kind that you heat and cool. Jill

OK, thanks for explaining. I am kind of slow sometimes. I don't like the heat and cool pudding, I bought some once on accident and HATED standing at the stove to stir and stir. I think I will go to the grocery store tomorrow to make this for dessert on Sunday. I am going out to dinner with my in-laws, but this will be nice for later in the evening! Stacy

And let me add...... A little should go a long way. meaning, you would not have to eat much of this to be satisfied. I would think a few bites would be good.

Hey Jill, I make trifles all the time. They are huge hit around the office and at home. The best part is that they have no idea that they are sugar free. I do Sugar Free Angel Food or Pound cake with Chocolate Pudding with Strawberry/Raspberries in between with SF Cool Whip. I tried it with Sugar Free Brownies once, but that they taste as great. The Angel Lush is a really good one to do right now too. SF Angel Food, Pineapple, SF Cool Whip, and Berries. All layered of course. Its on KraftFoods.com I'm making a Fruity Cheesecake for the adults and SF Jello Pudding Eggs for the kids and myself. Happy Easter! Amber

I do they during the holidays alot, simply because a little goes a long way. During Christmas, I do one that is Gingerbread/canned pumpkin (mixed with a bit of sweetener and pumpkin pie spice/vanilla pudding/cool whip. It's a Paula Deen recipe, so you know it's loaded with sugar (hahaha). Another fav is Brownie/chocolate pudding/hot fudge sauce/cool whip. Or chocolate cake/canned cherry pie filling/chocolate pudding (or vanilla)/cool whip. OMG!!! I need to STOP! hahaha Now...share the recipe for your dessert. It sounds good! Jill
