Charlottesville, psych evaluation

Hello all, I was wondering if any of you have had surgery by Dr. Shirmer at UVA? I am getting ready to go in for my psych evaluation and was wondering about the waiting time between insurance approval and the pre-op appointment. I had the initial consult back in February, and Dr. Shirmer was a gem! Such a nice man, and totally supportive of my decision. Thanks in advance to anyone with an answer to my question. Bec

I did and it was a few weeks but Mike Miller was there and he moved things quickly so not sure who they have working on insurances. Yes Dr Shirmer is the best I love him dearly he saved my life and he was genuinely concerned and I would reccommend him dailey lol. The psych evaluation was common since and they will try to trip you up on the 100 questions there reworded so read carefully, and good luck. Thank you for the information. Mike Miller is still working there, I met him on Feb. 8. He was very nice, and said he would get to work on my case as soon as I get all the test results submitted to their office. So far, I have had everything except the psych evaluation...but you can read all about that on my blog. As far as the meeting goes, I wish my appointment were that day. I am about 4 hours and have two kids to take care of here at home. We had to do some planning, in order to make the trip next week. I hope that a meeting will take place on one of my future appointment dates. I would love to meet other people who have had this done by Dr. Shirmer.

Interesting to here Mike is still there it was my understanding he had moved somewhere else in VA. Ill have to call Mary (in which she is the bomb) Love her. I am pretty sure the insurance man was Mike Miller. I don't remember Mary, however I was only there for the initial consult. I mostly chatted with Anna Miller, Dr. Schirmer, a resident, and the nutritionist (whose name is escaping me at the moment...she was very nice too). Then did all the preliminary blood work. I am in Pounding Mill, VA. Its about two hours south of Roanoke and right near the border of WV.
