Thanks a lot, that is such good advice. I really don't have a lot of money to spend but I want to be consistant with working out. Thanks Cimberly, I rather go outside with my kids in the stroller with the Ipod on...

As you get started, one thing to rememebr that exercise is really any physical activity. It doesn't necessarily have to be a "formal" workout program. In fact, for many beginners, a "formal program" can be overwhelming. Taking the kids out and walking with them is a GREAT way to start out. So is turning on your favorite music and dancing around with them, and playing in the yard. The idea is to be active. I rememebr from my many attempts at losing weight always being told that the odea was to move-move-move. And guess what....they were right! Someone suggested getting pedometer. You can get a decent one from Walmart and Taget for under $10.00. Put it on each morning, and challenge yourself to increase your number of steps. They recommend 10,000 per day - work up to that. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Then, as you get stronger, challenge yourself more. But, do NOT feel like you have to jump right into a big time exercise regime. Do not overwhelm yourself. Jill 263/136/135

Thanks Jill, I decided not to go my Curves appoinment, I called an cancelled. I just don't want to be binded to a contract and like you said I can do things here at home that will keep me very active. I have a set of 20 month old twins, 2 girls and they are very active and they keep me moving as well. You have been so helpful and you saved my bank account from the dreadful monthly payment that I was about to commit to with curves. Mo

Mo I agree with all that the others stated. I was a member of Curves and lost 30 pounds before surgery and it helped but you will need to increase your intensity level and that will not happen at Curves. You can try them out for a week at no cost. Also stop by your local State Farm office and pick up a 50 Million Pound Kit, it has a DVD, pamplete and a pedometer in it. Also go to 50millionpound.com for more info.

Hi! I am 16 months post op and have lost 135 lbs with about 5 to go! It is thrilling and I feel great. I go to Curves 3x a week and it has definitely been worth it. I try to double up on the machines and maximize their effectiveness. I can honestly say (contrary to what most people are posting here) that it has been very worthwhile. It is an efficient 30 minutes or so and I can definitely see the results. My arms are in fantastic shape and I can feel the muscles in my legs. Curves does not provide cardio so I do that 3x a week at home on my treadmill and I walk outside. I find all of this has helped me lose all this weight. So, for me, Curves has been very successful.
