For the last 5 months I have been working out and eating "well" not really a diet. I have lost 41 lbs as of today !! I know that with losing slowly your skin can 'adjust' somewhat better. I need to lose at least another 100 lbs to be at goal. If you exercise alot during the weightloss period, does it really make a differnce in the skin excess or will everyone need some form of plastic surgery for the skin ? I dont want to be blind to the idea that I may be saggy !! For all of you who have lost a large amt and who are losing. How do you feel your body looks ? Btw... if it matters, I am 30 and havent had any children lol

Hi Lisa, Did you have RNY? I am 35/no kids. I have lost 100 pounds and have some skin. IT is not horrible but I don't like it...I prefer the skin over being fat. I have always been a pear shape so the skin on my butt is probably the worst...my boobs are pretty ugly too but still worth it! There is a difference though when you have bypass. I think you actually lose much more body fat which causes the skin to sag more. Hope that makes sense. Christine

I didn't see that it made much difference at all. I started at 308 and lost down to 148 then leveled off at around 180. I had 7 pounds of skin removed when I had my tummy tuck and thigh lifts. I worked out during the whole weight loss process so I can't really say that it "didn't" make a difference....maybe it did and I just didn't notice it while it was happening. I was 31 when I had RNY and 33 when I had the plastic surgery....also hadn't had any children.

Hey Lisa. Well at 29 and down 153 lbs I do have some skin. Definitely don't like the boob issue but it is easily hidden with a good push up bra. Have a bit in the tummy area and some at the hips/thighs. Clothes do a pretty good job of disguising it so I am not too upset with it other than when I have those yucky me days. I was pretty regular with my exercise until November when I started having gall bladder issues and I am struggling now to get back on track. They tell you that each individual is different and the age and exercise is a factor but I am not sure how accurate it is. Hope this helps some. Courtney

Thanks guys. I havent had any surgery yet, but I am scheduled for the RNY. My ob/gyn said I should not wait and do it now so my "skin can shrink" back up. There is only so much toning you can do when you lose it so fast. I figured I would be willing to have a tummy tuck afterwards, but I dont really want any part of the batwing surgery OR a full body lift. Do ya'll find it to be depressing that you have lost all this weight and you still dont like what you see looking back at you ? ( when your naked at least?)

Hi, Lisa - first of all congrats on the weight loss!! Exercise, water and protein are the three things that you will assist you in skin issues...although regardless of what you do and what doctors say - I still feel that genetics has a lot to do with the skin "issues". I have lost almost 160 pounds and I think I look pretty good in most clothes...they are wonderful thing right now...without clothes...another story...to put it bluntly...it ain't pretty!! However...if I had it all over again...I would...it is so worth it!!! I am 13 years older than you and have four children! Hugs! Jill

Lisa, I am just over a year out and naked I look worse than my mother does and she is 74 years old - I was overweight all my life so my skin has no elasticity. I intend to get a lower body lift and my boobs and batwings done in a year or so. I have accepted that I will need these follow on surgeries to complete my journey. I guess it is the price I pay for not taking care of myself when I was much younger. I am 50 and have lost 100lbs.... Jackie
