weight loss for insurance

Is there anybody who had to go thru the 6 months of weight loss for the insurance and still got denied for the surgery because they did not loss enough weight? I have only lost 20 lbs in 6 months and am worried that the ins will not cover the surgery. And also how long did it take to get approval from ins? I have BC & BS of Illinios thru my husbands ins. I go next week to pcp doc.

Hi Debbie, I think I only lost about 10 pounds in my 6 months. I don't think they factor in how much you lose at all. It's just one more proof that you have made some kind of effort. 20 pounds in 6 months puts you at just under a pound a week which really is not bad at all anyway! Good luck!
