Hi, I am new to the forum. I am currently trying to get approval for bariatric surgery, but I am having a hard time getting my information from the doctor's office into the insurance company. Twice the doctor's office stated they have sent the necessary information into my insurance company and my insurance company states they have not received anything. I even have my Benefits Administrator involved as well. Has anyone encountered this? It's been over two months now of going back and forth... any suggestions?

I had the same problem. I finally had to go to the dr's office, ask for the information myself and had to literally take it personally to my representative. I would do that again in a heartbeat. At least if you have the info and you sent it in then you know they received it.

Thanks Jennifer. Actually I received good news today. The HR director and the Benefits Admin from my work confirmed that the paperwork arrived at the insurance company. I was told it would take up to 30 days to review...I'm on my way.

LaDonna , I would ask to see where they faxed it and the confirmation page . This will tell you when and what time it was sent . Then if they can provide it , get back on the phone with the insurance company . This is not the norm . I would get a manager on the phone and tell them your cir****tances . DO NOT STOP .. Until you get answers and confirmation that they have your paperwork . If for some reason , the doctors office is messing with you and are not doing their jobs , I would file a formal complaint and start looking for another surgeon ... as his staff is a reflection of him ... In my opinion . Please keep us posted , and I wish you much success on your quest for approval . Natalie

Natalie, Thank you for the reply. I received good news this afternoon... my HR director and Benefits Admin. were able to confirm with the insurance carrier receipt of my paperwork. I was told it would take up to 30 days to review. Have you had your surgery yet? La Donna

Jennifer is right. I would do the same in that situation....ask for the information and deliver it to the insurance company myself....and get signatures and names from each side. That creates accountability on both sides. Best of luck to you! Christina S
