Support VT: "Orange and Maroon Effect Friday"
I want to thank all of you who have emailed me concerning our events here at Virginia Tech. Because of this outpour of support, I wanted to make you all aware of one way we plan to show our support of the families of those who were killed on Monday (the announcement below). The university has also set up a Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund to remember and honor the victims. More information is available at www.vt.edu.
Spread the word - Orange and Maroon Effect
Virginia Tech family members across the country have united to declare this Friday, April 20th, an "Orange and Maroon Effect" day to honor those killed in the tragic events on campus Monday, and to show support for Virginia Tech students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and friends. "Orange and Maroon Effect" was born several years ago as an invitation to Tech fans to wear orange and maroon to Virginia Tech athletic events. We invite everyone from all over the country to be a part of the Virginia Tech family this Friday, to wear orange and maroon to support the families of those who were lost, and to support the school and community we all love so much.
I have already been doing this and encouraging my students to do likewise. A few of the girls have orange ribbons pinned to tops today. We are even being allowed to wear our VT t-shirts and sweatshirts in lieu of professional tops.
Many of our faculty are alumni/ae and PMHS graduates attend Tech every year. It is very personal for us.
Thanks for spreading the word.
Lois

Thanks, Lois. Even though classes are not in schedule, it has been really hectic over here. Most of our advisors are over at the Inn providing counseling support and assistance. I've been responding to student and employer emails and trying to get in touch with our co-op students. BTW...you continue to stay in my thoughts for your loss as well.
Julie

Thank you for your thoughts.
I did well with all this until hearing that the helicopters couldn't fly the wounded out due to the high winds. This is what happened to Cody. It was then that I began to cry.

PS--Grooming has pictured up.
PPS--This packet of info from Cho received by NBC this a.m. is quite chilling. I went walking along the tracks, hunting wild asparagus, so missed the news conference about it. I am just now catching up.

My heart goes out to all those killed and their families and friends. We were able to gather in our conference room to watch the convocation and I am thankful for that. Virginia Western is having some type of VT thing this Friday where you can sign a banner that is to go to Tech. I wish I could go but will be unable to attend. If you want more info it is on Virginia Western website.
