What do yall eat?
Hows everyone doing?
What do yalls meals consist of? Ever since i was told i could introduce anything, ive been going crazy on food. But I dont want to get back into old eating habits. Im not a big cooker. Im a microwave person. I dont like cooking a big ol dinner and only eating 3 bites. My boyfriend is a vegetarian and i have a 2 year old who would most def not eat what i am eating. A lot of the food i eat is probably really bad...i know i know!!!! not good!!! like i had some chinese tonight...a burrito for lunch earlier...i just dont know what im supposed to eat. I mean i do...but at the same time, i dont. I dont know if that makes any sense...sorry. On another hand I will be 2 months out on the 27th and have lost 45 lbs. I have so much more energy guys!!!!!!! its amazing. I used to seriously COUNT DOWN THE HOURS to my sons nap time at 12 and its like i want to keep him up and go do stuff. That was the thing i hated most before...ALWAYS BEING TIRED!!!!! oh its great now! sorry, just had to share. But someone let me know about some food! thanks.

Jorden-
Congrats on your loss and gained energy!
Food....I'm 9 months out and still focus on my protein. I try to eat chicken, tuna, beef, beans, eggs, etc. first. Then, I add a veggie...I've been big on salads lately, but also have had sweet potatoes lately too. After that I find myself wanting a fruit or carb, but I usually try to reach for a fruit.
If you're interested, the July 2006 Forum has a weekly post on Fridays (Thanks Amber!) that asks "what did you eat this week?" I've gotten some ideas from there, you may want to check it out.
Best to you...

Hey Jorden congrats on your loss so far. Now is definitely time to teach yourself new habits. Although you will still lose now pretty much no mater what you eat in the long run continuing to eat the wrong stuff will be telling, it could slow your weight loss, cause more stalls, keep you from reaching goal and make it a lot harder. I do allow myself the bad stuff some times. I will have chinese and pizza, a cheeseburger etc every once in awhile but I mainly focus on the lean proteins, fruits and veggies. Chicken, steak, porkchops, fish, tuna, eggs, beans, ground beef. There are so many ways to cook stuff that it can be entertaining. For lunch I do a lot of the weighwatchers, smartones, healthy choice meals. They are a bit higher on salt and stuff but the conveniece thing is an issue. If you aren't a big cooker, try making bigger servings when you do cook and freeze the leftovers. Then all you have to do is microwave it when you want it.

Hi There.....
I'm 18 months out and focus on protein, and then veggies and then carbs.
I take in about 950 - 1100 calories, with 22-25% carbs and about 70% proteins. Ok....laymens terms.....about 110 - 125 grams of protein and about 55 - 70 grams of carbs a day.
My day consists of the following (on average)
Early Morning: Protein shake made w/ 1/2 cup of milk and 1/4 cup of water and ice. Some days I add a few pieces of frozen fruit.
Breakfast:
3 oz of low fat cottage cheese w/ 2 tablespoons of berries, peaches, or a few slices of banana and 1/2 tsp of peanut butter. I have this most days.
1/4 cup of egg beaters w/ 2 slices of chopped turkey bacon, and 1/2 slice of swiss cheese.
3 oz of part-skim ricotta cheese w/ 1 tsp of sugar free preserves
Morning Snack:
Yogurt smoothie or 1 oz of beef jerky, or 1 oz of cheese with a few wheat thins, 1 oz of Cinnamunch
Lunch: ALWAYS - 3 oz of meat w/ 2 tablespoons of veggies. Some days I will have about 1 tablespoon of brown rice, but not very often. Lunch is usually left overs from dinner.
Afternoon Snack: See morning snack.
Dinner: See lunch
Evening: Protein shake (always) and sometime a jello cup w/ whipped cream, or a few bites of vanilla custard.
Included during my day will be the occasional tootsie roll, pretzel rod, or something along those lines.
Right now, with hubby travelling and my teenager working, it is just me. So, alot of times I will have tuna salad for dinner with a salad or shrimp w/ single serve broccoli (green giant). Those single serves are perfect!
Cosco has a precooked chicken breast in the freezer section. Those are perfect because I can take a few out of the bag, and heat it up for just me and eat it with my favorite dipping sauce (currently it is sugar free Thai Peanut - YUMO!). I have that alot of times, too. In fact, the reg grocery store has them (Tyson) in both chicken and beef.
Precooked shrimp is a staple at my house. Lunch meat roll up w/ cheese is another good one. I like to take a piece of lettuce, lay a piece of lunch meat on top, cheese on top of the lunch meat, and roast red pepper on top of the cheese and roll up.
I make taco salads alot. Ground meat, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, green onion, salsa. Sometimes I will have a couple of baked tortillas, but not very often.
Fajitas without the wrapper are great. Easy to prepare. Also stir fry.
Another staple for me is 1/4 cup of ricotta cheese w/ 2-3 tablespoons of spaghetti sauce (w/ italian turkey sausage) and 2 tablespoons of italian cheese. Heat in the microwave until all melty. I like turkey sausage because it isn't so fatty and greasy in my pouch.
Also, alot of times I will make a big meal and freeze portions for myself.
Becasue I work long hours and commute, I have to be able to get meals done fairly quickly and now that my son is watching his weight (actaully, trying to lose about 20 pounds), portion control, nutrition and exercise have become the top priority at my house.
Sometimes you have to think outside of the box a bit, but it is important that you get the nutrition that you need.
Hope this helps......

I eat whatever my stomach tolerates: rarely eggs or meat. Processed meats eem to go down well, just finished up some chicken salad made with canned chicken, and had the last bite of canned corned beef a few minutes ago. Bacon, sausage and ham make me happy. I cannot count on being able to eat chicken--just the thought of it often turns my stomach. I eat LOTS of dried fruits and nuts and salad when I have it.
I cannot do without my protein drinks, and bars. I LOVE them. I take in at least 90 g of protein per day. Non-fat plain yogurt is my GOOD friend, and most cheeses as well.
I am 15 months out and maintaining my weight, having been instructed by the surgeon and nut to lose no more. If my weight inches up, I cut carbs and push the exercise.
I eat NO sugar, almost no bread, no pasta, no rice and potatoes, rarely anything fried, my lifetime commitment to my continued good health.
Good luck,
Lois
