Craving Popcorn!!! Help....
I did not start eating popcorn until 6 months out and even now (at 18 months) I will only have a small handfull here and there. For me, it's not worth filling up my pounch with something like that, plus there is debate as to whether it is good for us or not.
Are you craving soemthing crunchy - is that it? Maybe something else would be a better choice than the carbs. When I want something crunchy, I have Cinnamunch. It's cinnamon sugar flavored baked pork rinds - VERY ADDICTING! I buy it on-line by the case. How about a protein bar? Vitamin Shoppe sells some good ones (Oh Yea is one that we can tolerate).
Also (as a last resort before reaching for the popcorn)- Quaker rice cake minis have a popcorm flavored one. Still high in carbs, but digests better than popcorn.
Good luck!

Thanks Jill, I will try some of that. I not sure it is the crunchy that I am craving or not I just like popcorn. I have one of the popcorn popper that you put on the stove and you keep turning the handle it is all popped. I got that as a gift because I love popcorn so much. I will take your suggestion as well.
Your picture looks nice...

Mo I dont remember when I started eating it but I have the mini bags as snacks in the evenings all the time was never told not to eat it. You may want to check with your surgeon on his input before to be sure its safe for you and your situation first. But I have no troble with it. And I know others here who have it as well.
Mo, I have it sometimes too. I love popcorn and when I do have it I only have a little bit and I always make sure I get all my other stuff in first. Don't want to waste pouch space. I only have a little at a time and I usually have the white chedder. I think I started eating it at 10 weeks out. Hope this helps. I would ask your doctor though.

Hi again Mo!
I was sort of afraid to try popcorn...that dreaded fear of something getting stuck I guess! But, I did try it at about 4 mos post op with absolutely no trouble. I usually use the mini bags and add some parmesan cheese to it for a bit more protein and flavor. I also buy a product made by Frito-Lay called Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn. It is in a black bag with the popcorn pictured on the outside. And they have the little snack size bags too. It is a good popcorn and the white cheddar flavoring rocks!
I'd ask my surgeon or Nut and then give it a try if they okay it at your point in the postop process!
Hugs,
Lea
