Plastic Surgery
I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon on Wed. May 2, for a consult on arm lift, tummy, breast, and lower bottom area. I feel like I am sitting on nails most of the time or at least rocks. It is so painful, especially since I drive 2 hours each way to work.
My insurance company, which is Blue cross/ Fair choice, is sending me to a PS at Fair Oaks, and said that if medically necessary they will cover.
Any one out there had any experience with this insurance paying and how hard was it to get approval.
I was very large in the chest before gastric bypass, and yes,I have lost 4 sizes but I still have pulling and burning in my back and up my neck, bra straps have to be tight for support so that is so uncomfortable.
The stomach area doesn't look to bad, but I have nerve adhessions on the inside that feel like electic shocks. The doctor said if I had a tuck, it would get rid of the problem.
The arms, not sure if that will be covered or not it is more of a personal thing, I know it is so ugly, flapping around.
Anyone ever had that covered and if so what documentation was required?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Donut!
I am not up to plastics yet but plastic surgeons have spoke at a couple of my support group. My understanding is that in order to get PS covered, you need to have documentation like mad showing the problems and all other solutions tried. For the tummy, I think it has to hang below your pubic area. From what I hear, it is almost impossible to get the arms covered although if they are done at the same time as another part, the cost may be reduced (anesthesia, etc).
Hope that helped a little!

Well, I appreciate the feed back.
No, my tummy really doesn't hang at all, but it just looks bad to me. I have scar tissue on the inside (lower left area) that feels like I am getting elecrtic shocks, can't walk or do any exercise without this pain. I was told if I had a tummy tuck it would solve that issue.
Breast, What breasts? Just skin, basically, but heavy still and everything just aches, neck and back from trying to hold them up I guess.
Anyway, thanks so much, we will see what happens, I can pay for some but really hope insurance will also.
