We stall in order to give your body time to catch up with your rapid weight loss. I speak from experience on that one! I was 410 pre-op and lost exactly 40 pounds between surgery and 2 mos postop like you. As has been pointed out, that is 5 pounds a week for each and every week since your surgery. That is astounding! I went on to have lost 100 pounds by just shy of 4 mos out. Now, at the 8 mos postop point, I have lost 141 pounds. I have also lost a whopping 112 inches! And, as I've only lost 31 pounds in the last 3 months, I have also lost almost 50 inches during those 3 months, so my body is working to "compact" itself now that I've lost all that weight. I am still a ways from my personal goal of 175 to 180 pounds as I'm sort of stuck at 269 right now. I seem to go for a couple of weeks with no loss at all and then lose 2 pounds overnight. Then 2 or 3 more weeks of nothing and I'll lose 2 more pounds. I've been losing only 5 or 6 pounds per month this last few months. I have lost those inches too though, so it's all good! It is simply miraculous that I've taken off that 141 pounds as I'd been at 400 to 410 for probably 10 or more years and was sort of resigned to living my life that way. I can do SOOOOO much more now that this weight change has happened. And, I know that patience and persistence will pay off and I'll eventually see 199 on that scale. I've told many folks that after all those years in the high 300s (I've been over 370 pounds for the last 15 years and well over 300 for more than 20 years.) and even the 400s, I will be happy to reach any weight and clothing size that starts with a ONE! So, that would be 199 pounds or less and a size 18! Keep your chin up and stick with your program. I promise you the scale WILL move!! Hugs, Lea 410/269/175??

All I can say is "YOU GO GIRL"!!!!! That is a huge acomplishment. Thank you so much for telling me about your journey. I never measured myself for inches I need to start. I think I was having a moment. I take each month as it come and I was like down when my 2 month came and all I lost was 40 lbs now when you put it like you and everybody else said it. I have done good. Thanks again Lea and keep up the good work!!! Mo

Hey Mo! I caught your question a little bit late and everyone else gave you my answers. We do stall to catch up and that is where the inches start to drop. I do know a lady who stalled at like 6 months out for almost 4 months and then bam just started dropping again. Measuring your self is a great idea. At two months out I had lost about 43 lbs, I was a slow but steady loser. Now at 17 months out I have been at goal for a month 150 lbs loss total. Christina gave you a great idea. Definitely check you month/year surgery board. Then you can see where people who had surgery the same time as you are at in their journey. Here is the link in case you don't have it. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/03-2007/. It is typical for a stall to go 3-6 weeks so don't stress out too much. If you can up your water. I found that not getting in enough water really slowed my weight loss down. Also up your protein, just add in an extra shake in the day if you can. Keep up the good work and by the way, nice pic, very beautiful. Courtney

AWWW!!! Thank you Courtney, Well I think one of the reasons why I was feeling this way one I am on my monthly and that could be one of the reason for the stall. I need to realize that I am doing good for 2 months 40 lbs is a lot and I love the new me. This WLS is really teaching me to patiences. Thanks for your support.

I definitely noticed a pattern of when it was that time of the month I would stall out a few days before hand, all the way through and then suddenly drop a few right afterwards. Tha****er retention sucks. Also remember that our hormones are so out of wack at that time (for every fat cell we lose, the hormones it held inside are released into our system) and things always seem to be more emphasized because of it. Hey Mo , I just wanted to stop by before I headed down to Richmond to see my mom to say WAY TO GO . No worries about a stall . It is your bodies way of saying .. : What the Heck are you Doing to me here " The one way to beat out a stall is to up your protein , increase your water ... and change up your exercise routine . Do not set a number for your weight loss success . Numbers can be decieving . You could have lost 6 dress sizes .. and only 20 pounds . It is all complicated, but trust me .. you will meet your goals .. if follow your surgeons proticol and remember the rule.. Protein -Water and Exercise ! Best to you ! Natalie

Hi Nat, Thanks you so much for your reply. See, that is one thing that I have to been doing a lot of is protein. I mean I do them everyday but I do need to up the amount that I am getting in. I do drink a lot of water and the excerising I have been doing really good with that as well. I am going to challenge myself to do protein-water and exercise. Thanks, Praying for you and your Family Montego
