New post ops (1 mnth +)
Hey guys! For those of you a month or more out I have another bit of info for you. Are you struggling emotionally? Do you feel really overwhelmed with things? You are not crazy, there is a medical explanation for it. Fat cells store hormones, this is what contributes to things like PCOS. So for every fat cell we lose, those hormones are being put back out into our bodies, this affects our mental health, medications, birth control, menstral cycles, and many other things. In the beginning during rapid weight loss, this can be extremely overwhelming. Everything seems more emphasized. We get sad, mad, glad, everything, more easily and definitely in a bigger way. Those stalls seem to be harder, the changes in our diet & life feel more complicated, everything. I know I struggled big time because I just seemed miserable and unhappy with everything. I felt like I was crying all the time the first few months. Remember that you are not alone and you are not having some strange issue. The weight loss is a contributing factor. If you feel to overwhelmed please don't be afraid to ask for help from the board, your doctors, a therapist, a family member or friends. It doesn't hurt to ask for help when you need it. Congrats on your successes so far and keep up the good work.

The same is true for guys. Man, what a roller coaster of emotions I've been having. And I guess its the testosterone release from the fat burning and weight loss because most of its been anger and irritability, lack of patience, feeling misunderstood and taken advantage of. I feel like a nut case. I even called my surgeons office and asked for a THS thyroid test for Hypothyroidism to sse if that is causing any of the issues. Its a big change from the joking about everything unintimidating fat guy I use to be. I have also been sliding through the 250s from 263 this last week. I even hit 249 this morning. I am loving the weight loss but feeling like maybe I should have died fat than be thin and this cranky all the time.
Thanks for such pertinent information, Courtney. I do feel like I have a short fuse sometimes lately, and boy, did my mother in law really get on my nerves last weekend. Maybe I was just being more sensative than usual and she wasn't as rude and obnoxious as I thought she was. I'll keep this in mind when I feel blue or angry next time. Thanks again for sharing this great info!

Courtney-
Awesome advice. I too struggled for the first few months...even ran here to the boards asking about it!
I'm beginning to think that the anethesia may play a part in this too. I know for the past few weeks since my gallbladder surgery I've been a bit more blue as well. Of course, I have lots of other stresses going on in my life right now, so I could be just making a false connection.
Either way, your advice to get help and that it's normal are right on.

Thanks Christina. Since I started making a point to get back to the gym & have some time to myself it has really helped. I think that the break from the gym plays a part also because of the decrease in natural endorphins. I know you are probably on restrictions right now but try and stay in schedule. Take your normal gym time and go for a walk or something. The extra stress doesn't help, boy do I know.

Thank you for words of wisdom. Just a little note to let you know that I am starting to lose again. Remember that I had gotten down to 195 and starting to gain the weight again and went back up to 230 I am proud to say I am back to 222.5 now and they killed my thryoid back in Novemver and it worked and now I can see the difference because I can see the weight coming back off and I read your post and put some it to help me lose and get this weight off so I can be here for the grandkids.
Here is sending prayers to everyone that needs them. We all need to pray for each other and keep everyone in our throughts.
Have a nice week and weekend.
