Good afternoon everyone! I have been lurking, but can not post from work, so.... I was just going back thru some of the older posts and saw one about iced tea. I am an addict when it comes to iced tea...I have to have some every day. I use the decaf bags and make a gallon at the time and buy the decaf Lipton cold brew bags to take with me for those "on the go" times. I do not care for the taste of the crystal light. What I wanted everyone to know is that iced tea affects the absorption of our iron supplements so if you do take them, be sure to stop drinking the tea two hours before the supplement is consumed and wait at least two hours after so that we get the full benefit. I was never told this in the beginning. One of the fitness staff in my gym told me and I verified it with my CNP at my surgeons office. Sorry I am so late in getting this in! Miss you all. Will post when I can. I'll be at the races all weekend (GO DALE JR.!!!!!)so I will try and get on more next week! {{{hugs}}} Tammy

Thanks, Tammy! I have been drinking a bottle of instant sugar-free, caffeine free, peach tea a day since I discovered it. I don't think I have ever taken my vitamin with this teas, but now I know not too - and better yet to drink plain water or something other than tea for 2 hours before and after taking my vitamin. Thanks for the heads up! , Robin PS- did you get my message with the Virginia Zoo website address?

Tammy- Thank you so much for this information! I was the one that posted about Iced Tea and have since started to drink a bit. Good to know I shouldn't run down to get a hot tea in the AM right after/with my vitamins! Always great to hear from those that have gone before us.....thanks for sharing your wisdom. Christina S

One more thing...if you're prone to certain types of kidney stones (calcium oxalate type), tea is a NO...NO !!! If in doubt ask your doctor. I worry about this in the early months of rapid weight loss because kidney stones can be a problem for some. Weight loss, dehydration, not enough calcium (but not too much), increased protein can make you the perfect candidate. Some of the foods high in oxalates are tea, spinach, strawberries, chocholate, nuts, beets and legumes. I had this happen to me years ago when I was on a diet and was drinking tea like crazy. Kidney stones are not fun!!! Sheila
