Surgery May 9th unexpectantly....?

OOOOMMMMMGGGGG!!! I can't believe that Dr. Chastanet's Nurse Joan called me this afternoon and informed me that Portsmouth had some open space and was trying to fill up some slots for surgery. She called me and offered me surgery for May 7th or May 9th. My Pre-op is tomorrow. This is so unexpected for me. I chose May 9th for family scheduling conflicts. However, I wasn't expecting to have surgery until June. I had just completed everything and didn't have my Pre-op schedule until May 10. I have so many emotions running through me. I don't even know what all to take to the Hospital with me? I'm praying that this will definitely help others move up more quickly who were also hoping to recieve an earlier date. I feel truly blessed right now! Tiawna J.

Tiawana- Wow! Congrats on being moved up a month! You'll be fine...your surgeon wouldn't move your date without being comfortable doing so. As for what to take the the hospital...you don't need much. I used my pillow, but beyond that I didn't use any of the things I took with me. Maybe some slip on slippers would have been nice for walking the halls, but the socks they made me wear were fine too. Some people recommend chapstick, but I didn't find I needed it. I was too out of it to read a book and barely had enough focus to watch tv. I stayed in my hospital gown the whole time, but some take PJ like clothes to change into. I guess my thoughts on this is...if you're going to *need* it, they'll give it to you. Christina S

Congrats, to you. That is good that your Dr moved your date up now you can get it over with and you can start with you journey very early. The emotions are very normal and don't worry about to much to take to the hospital because you can use a lot of there stuff. I took my own pillow, robe, slippers, toothpaste and toothebrush, stuff for my hair. I used there gown because I did not want to mess up my own stuff. you will do fine and again congrats to you... Mo

Congrats Tiawna. This time next week you will be on the losing side. The crazy emotions are normal. Try not to get overwhelmed. I took a bunch of stuff to the hospital that I didn't end up using. What I did use was my pjs, slippers, and chap stick, brush/comb & ponytail holder. I forgot to take a pillow & really wished I had one for the ride home to cushion my belly a bit. Courtney

That is GREAT! You have favor! What a blessing. I can not even imagine what is running through your head right now. I am waiting on those numbers to move, so I will take this as a sign that things are moving right along at PNH. We will both be on the losing side before we know it! I am happy for you. Remember to take it easy, this is what you have been waiting for so do not stress yourself out. God Bless! Christina
