Need Some Advice from my VA Buddies
Hey guys -- I need some OT WLS advice from you guys in the Norfolk, VA Beach, Chesapeake area along the following lines.
My 24 yr old daughter is in the Navy, stationed in Norfolk. She has been out on deployment on an aircraft carrier for the past eight months and is finally coming home later this month.
She gave up her rental apt just before deployment since she was due to be leaving the service not too long after her current deployment ended. However, the Navy has made her an offer (too good to refuse in terms of a reenlistment bonus) and she has decided to re-up for at least another three years.
She has decided that she would like to buy something in this market rather than rent and would like to be in the VA Beach / Chesapeake area. I'm thinking something along a condo or townhouse would be best for her since that would eliminate outside maintenance, etc.
My questions are:
1. Anybody have a realtor in that area to recommend that would take good care of my duaghter (with a parental eye) so that she doesn't make a mistake?
2. Any area in these areas she is intersted in should she stay away from due to crime/ bad neighborhood, etc?
3. She probably cannot afford anything much higher than $200-$225K with the smallest down payment necessary. Any ideas?
4. Lastly, she will also need to find someplace affordagble to stay temporarily while she is looking and finalizing any deal. Any ideas?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will be traveling down on the 22nd - she gets home on the 23rd and I have to drive back on the 24th -- would love to look at one or two things the morning of the 24th if able to.
Thank you in advance.
Hugs,
Nannette
