surgery date

Well...it seems that things are dragging very slowly in the surgeons office so I don't have a date YET. I spoke with the coordinator last thursday (11 days after I completed my requirements) and she assured me my chart was no longer on her desk, it had gone to the insurance person. Well, here it is one week later and they are just now writing my letter to the insurance company (she says she just got the chart!!!). FRUSTRATION! Sheila

Hey Sheila, Keep the positive thoughts. You KNOW deep in your heart that this is worth the wait. Even though waiting is so freakin' hard. Take some deep breathes.......... Corinn

Sheila, I am so sorry that they are taking so long with your case. I wish there was something I could do. I completely understand your frustration! I've been there, done that, and certainly would not wish for anyone to have to go thru that! I hope that now that your letter is being written, you will have a very quick approval, and get a date ASAP! I really think they need to hire some more help in there - this is really ridiculous! I'm here for you if you need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen to your venting. Good Luck, Robin

Keep the faith, because I guarentee you that when it is all said and done, you will look back and not even remember this part of the journey. Jill

I'm with you girl. I have to go in on May 17th to pick a date, get my RX's and preop instructions. Why o why couldn't I have picked a date already and then had the appointment on the 17th???? Usually I am such a patient person. On the bright side (which is usually the side I see)I'm just about there and maybe we will have surgery together!! Jen

Trust me when I tell you that the frustration will drive you insane . But why not take this time to do some research .. and prepare for your new life that awaits you ? I am sure that there are things you can do to get ready for this . I mentor a lot of pre-ops and if you would like my listing and info , I would be glad to send it to you . When you get your date , you will feel relieved and happy to know that you are ready for this most important journey to your new life . Best to you , Natalie

You're right Nat, that's exactly what I have done. I have changed behaviors since I found out that I qualified for surgery. It did not make sense to me to wait until I was post op. Do I still eat ice cream or choco chip cookies Yup but now just occasionally. Bringing these things into my home few and far between has been healthier for my family and I. Now we have sugar free popcicles in the freezer. You are a great inspiration to so many. Thanks. Jen

Thanks Natalie. I appreciate the support! I work in health care (radiology) so I've done lots of research, but I do learn something new every day. I know it will get here soon and I've had a lot less to wait than some people I know. Thanks to you all for your friendship and support. It's amazing how much of a difference it makes when you're going through such life altering experiences and have someone who understands. Sheila
