Cigna insurance and words of wisdom

Hello -- I'm very new to this sight and am hoping to be approved for lapband surgery this year. A very close friend had this surgery a little over a year ago and has had great success. I've completed quite a bit of reading on the surgery and truly feel this is a good choice for me. I am currently in the 4th month of the supervised diet required by Cigna. I don't know if there is anything else that I can try to complete until August. Does anyone have any advice to offer in regards to making this a smooth approval process --or am I hoping for a miracle?? I am scheduled at UVA in August for the initial educational seminarbut that is all at this time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated---

Yvonne- The 6 month diet is truly the "hard part" because it forces you to wait and be patient! I say just keep educating yourself. It sounds like you're doing the steps necessary. Be sure you know what your insurance requires and do what you can to facilitate those requirements. Don't assume that your doctors will do things for you...they're busy people! Overall...hang in there...this is the part where you just have to be patient. Christina S

Yvonne, sounds like you are doing it just right. Following the insurance requirements is the key. There isn't much else you can do but sit and wait and keep on educating yourself. Courtney

Thanks for the support and advice. I am a nurse and I tend to try to get it all done as soon as possible.
