Local Support Group?

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the messageboard, a fairly new post-op, and I'm looking for a local support group in my area. I live in Stafford, just south of Quantico, and would attend group meetings through my surgeon's office but he is up in Baltimore and it's too far to go for 6pm meetings when you consider rush hour and the fact that I have teenagers. I emailed a contact person a while back but haven't heard anything so I figured this was the best place to ask. Do any of you know of support groups in the Woodbridge area? Richmond would even be possible since the traffic woes there aren't as mind-numbing as they are the closer you get to DC. Thanks, Teri

Hi Teri, welcome to the VA board.  I know of a couple of different options for you.  Jackie Thodos has a support group that she runs right there in Stafford.  You can contact her for the details.  Also I believe Dr. Halmi's office out of Woodbridge runs one at Potomac hosptial.  You can check the website at www.obesitysurgerycenter.net .  Hope this helps.  :)

I am Jackie Thodos. Sue Baker and I run a Support Group on the Stafford/Fredericksburg border the third Wednesday of every month. If you shoot me an email at [email protected] I will contact you and give you more details ......... and add you to opur email list.
