How did you read my mind??   I am 2 months away from finishing my six month diet and feels like its taking forever lol. I read other posts about how much exercise they do and I just get defeated so thank you so much for starting this for us pre ops :) So the thing I will start this week is no drinking with meals which is gonna be big for me  I already do no sodas and take my vitamins so seems like a good next step :) Thank you again for your uplifting spirit

OMG--What you have said is what I have been doing since before meeting with my surgeon. And do you know why??? Because of Stories like yours and Leilani's and so many others. As I sat and read profiles and then the Virginia Boards I knew in my heart that surgery was a tool. It makes no sense to me to wait until I was post op to make the changes in my behavior.  Do I fall off? Yeppers. But I climb right back on. My wonderful doc contributes my weight loss to my attitude. Without "trying" to lose weight, I have gone from 242 lbs to 228.5 since March 8th!  Thanks Natalie for starting this post. Thank you all my friends on this VA board for teaching me how to be a successful "loser" Jen

Hi Nat,  I was away for the holiday weekend and I came on the web site to see what I could do to get  started.  My surgery is on July 11,  I have decided to cut out soda. I have already started slowly exercising,  I also  am going to cut out sugar as much as  possibe. I am looking for anything else I can do to help.  Thanks , Lanette

Lanette ,  You are well on your way ... Good for  You !!  You may want to try upping your protein . With your surgey over a month away . Protein will help to build your stores , and help you to heal . Protein does so many things for our bodies .. and with out it .. well .. we would all look like skeletons .  You can try some protein shakes now if you want , but your taste may change after surgery . But you cal always add food protein to your diet for now .  Seafood - Shrimp - Beef , Eggs . Cheese - Yogurt .. all great protein sorces .  You may also want to begin increasing you fluids . This is a must with this surgery . I was able to maintain 80 ounces at about 2 months out . And you will need to try to get in as much as you can right afterwards , to prevent dehydration . But do not panic if you can't . Just do your best to sip-sip.. I have some information if you would like for me to send it to you in  PM . It may help you to ready yourself and understand what is about to take place . It also has info on vitamins and minerals .  Best to you .. and please keep us posted .  Natalie
