Hi Tammy, Welcome to the VA Board and OH. Aetna was my insurance at the time I went through the approval and surgery processes and they covered it then (4+ years ago). My suggestion is to give them a call and if they cover it and under which plan. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi there, I have AETNA ppo, and they covered my surgery after a fight.  Read my profile for more details if you are interested.  Good luck! Robin

Hi Tammy, I have Aetna and they paid for my surgery.  You have to call Aetna though and find out if you have the obesity rider for gastric bypass.  If you simply ask if they cover the surgery, they will tell you if medically necessary but apparently that means they dont cover it (i dont understan but anyway) you must specifically ask if your policy has the rider.  If they do, you will need 6 months of medically supervised diet plan. Good Luck! Christine
