Hi! I had surgery with Dr. Moazzez on May 29th and I know that he told me I had to get down 25lbs by my surgery also. I couldn't do it on the Atkins diet so I had to use Optifast. It's a SUPER nasty meal replacement where you eat NOTHING but that and water. Let me tell you- it was WAY worse than doing Atkins. So TRY TRY TRY your hardest to get down as much as you can. Believe me- you don't want the Optifast!! GOOD LUCK! Kathy

hi kathy, i am doing my best to stay on this diet so far so good today its just a matter of wanting it bad enough i guess but its hard lol but i guess no one said it was going to be easy.... so thats awsome you have the same surgeon as me and they gave you a pedometer? do they give all thier patients one? also i went online and watched the presentation of the risks of surgery and printed out the certificate but do they really check for that? and do they really make you give them your true or false quiz at your final consultation?

Hi there- I know you're struggling right now but YOU CAN DO THIS!  Just think of this as the first step in your new life. After surgery you'll struggle with those mental "wants" also, but if you don't train yourself to resist you'll get very ill and possibly hurt yourself. I'm not saying this to scare you, but to help you look at this requirement as a head start.....literally, it's in your head.   Also, try planning your meals and get rid of the things you're not supposed to have. I know that if I have something in the house that I'm not supposed to have, it calls for me all day until I eat it or throw it away!  YOU CAN DO THIS....

Hi, do what Dr.M says!!!  Trust me...I know for a fact that if it weren't for him- my husband and I would both be dead today!  The ER people after our motorcycle accident - said that if would have been at our pre-surgery weights the accident would have more thanl ikely killed us! I did a modified Atkins - 70 Protein and 30 carbs per day.  It worked...don't think of it as a diet...think of it as changing/saving your life! YOU CAN DO IT!! Hugs Jill

I put myself on the bariatric diet right after my first consult, to prove to myself that I can adhere to the lifestyle change this surgery requires.  I lost 34 pounds before surgery and have stuck by the diet faithfully. Prove to yourself you can do this.  If you do NOT make the diet and lifestyle change you will gain back your weight and NO ONE wants to do that! Good luck, Lois

Well I didn't have to do the preop diet so I can really give you any advice there but I do know you have a great surgeon as quite a few have already told you.  They all gave you some great advice.  I know you can do this.  We are here for you.

Dr M is the greatest!!  And yes, it is possible to loose the weight in that time frame.....I lost 30 in 2 months by going total protein, walking my ass off and if I got hungry, I would drink hebal teas like orange spice, with splenda.  It is a reality check at this point, what do you want more??  I thought that this surgery was the prize, not the burger.  Focus on the surgery,  and this is what needs to be done for surgery to happen, and nothing short of that will do.  I had my surgery with Dr Chebli from the same office (Before he moved to WA) and he expected no less from me.  Pam was impressed enough with what I had accomplished that she had me on the phone during a post-op visit telling another pre-op how to do it.  IT CAN BE DONE.......GET YOUR MIND AROUND IT AND JUST DO IT.....THE RESULTS ARE SOOOOO WORTH IT!!!!!  I dont mean to yell, but I know where I came from and where I am now, and wouldnt trade one life for the other......... (Didnt mean to get on a soap box but believe me if I could do it, ANYONE can......it is ALL in your mind.........) Dianna (P.S. My sis had Dr M and has gone from 395 to 195 in a year............)
