Fitness WOW
Two weeks ago I hiked 11 miles on the Rocky Knob Trail on the BRP in Floyd Co. Winston Wonderdog was along for his run. The very end was VERY strenuous and tiring after already having hiked 7 miles. We did it, though it tok me almost 8 hours.
This weekend I hiked up Cornelius Creek Trail in the National Forest--uphill (up MOUNTAIN) non-stop for 1 hour and 10 minutes. I took a 3 minute rest at the Apple Orchard Falls before heading back down, trail running about 20 minutes, fast walking the rest back to the truck.
Yesterday, I walked from Solitude in Botetourt Co.up Spout's Run 4 miles to the mountain top with one stop to listen to bird calls while rehydrating, then back down down. I studdied a few wildflowers on the way.
The best part of our wonderful journey--to me--is the wonderfully fit condition I am now in. Weight loss is great, but there is so much I can DO now that I could not before.
The kids are out of school this Wed. I am done Friday and the mountains are beckoning me with their siren songs. I am NOT putting wax in my ears
