NEVER GOING BACK TO MY PLASTIC SURGEONS OFFICE

its really sad when you cant trust your docs office with anything these days or their staff. my rights have been violated and i have been violated in everyway possible, im filing a complaint today with health and human services regarding this matter. dont ever think your medical information is safe because it truly is not. my character has been attacked and im not going to keep defending it to people i dont know. i owe this all to one person and i thank her dearly for all the trouble, and stress she has brought me. this type of job requires a high standared of ethics and concern for others, im just letting you know all is not private in the medical field, i have never been so sickened by such poor standards of how my personel medical information has been handled and has been put out like common gossip. im so glad i have support of my really good friends *****ALLY know me and that im not anything but a really good friend a wonderful wife and mom. i wish everyone luck on their journeys, one bad apple just sours it for some of us, im just one of them. ive enjoyed reading many of your posts and seeing your transformations, and seeing your excitement as you see the changes!! ill still check in once in a while to see some updates. right now im going to see that something is done about what has happened to me, im tired of being stepped on, and its not going to happen again. good luck all!!!

Shelly, When trust walls are broken it does take time to heal and repair them but in this case and some others healing will happen, forgiveness as well but as for repairing the trust walls there are some in this life who will continue to dance along the edge with the Devil and take separate paths. We ALL have choices and sometimes its best to let others learn lessons we already have.  I've kept up with your ongoing troubles regarding this and it is really upsetting when you trust someone with your personal information, you put confidence in their respect for your privacy and even more when it is a doctor, practice or someone providing you a service. Its a bit worse when someone within is violating the ethics policies and all they have sworn to uphold. You have been violated and I believe that you are doing the best thing possible in filing that complaint. You do not deserve this. In fact, no one deserves to have their personal lives splashed, bashed and rehashed at the expense of others who truly are not privy to the information they speak of. We've talked a bit and realize something extremely important...others do not define your self worth. In addition, sometimes when we are hurt like this we want to find reasons not to trust others but we cannot be that way. We have to pick ourselves up and walk tall and move on.  I'm proud of you for taking a stand so that this does not continue happening in the future to others. We must stand together and make a path for others so that they will be treated with respect, dignity, their privacy needs to be respected and others need to be taught that God doesn't like ugly.  Do keep posting/replying here. hey lady, oh i know my self worth trust me!! when someone kicks me i just kick harder! lol. i guess you can say im pretty head strong, having a son with a disability i dont take any sh--! from anyone. for 11 years ive learned nothing is easy and he has made me pretty strong. thanks for your support. thats why im so glad i found this site in 2002 and have stayed to this day. your a great person kat. hugs to ya!

Wow Shelly this stinks.  It is terrible that you are having to go through this.  Your story sounds suspiciously similar to Christines from last week.  Are these two situations connected?  I would really hate to think that someone we know here on the board is breaking personal and professional confidences.  What a shame.  Stay strong Shelly and fight for your rights.

well no, but yes it is the same person. im not a liar so i wont lie to anyone about it. my situation is solely about somebody getting information from my docs office (their job) and then turning around and gossiping about it to others, such bull sh-- . she has children? funny thing is she hasnt shown her face, but has had her friend bad mouth me. i wont respond to any of that again its not worth my time. thanks for your encourgement courtney it really means a whole lot to me ,supportive posts are all i will respond to even private emails. i wont allow anymore stress into my life. thanks again!!! hugs!!

wow ! Shelly this is really awful - can you sue this person for disclosing your medical stuff to other people?  I thought it was an offence to do that. I am so sorry you are having to go though any of this - it is bad enough going through all the stuff we do to feel healthy and good about ourselves - and awful when at the end of it people lie and gossip about us...... its slander too, funny thing too some how some body make sure my post on here make it to my (former) docs office. ive already been told that " my dr.'s brother is a lawyer"  oh jacqueline i know there are some good people here for support, i see it today. i do sooooo appriciate it!! and i wont forget the ones who have offered it. its very illegal to disclose medical information to others, you are right.its not something to sit around and chit chat about at the end of the day because you dont have anything else to do. take care, thanks for your support! hugs.

Shelly, Rise above all the negativity and turn it ALL into determination! This is where you draw a line in the sand. The truth speaks for itself and the situation calls for legal action. There is NO excuse or tolerance for the disclosure of private medical or personal information by anyone associated in or for the healthcare system. You have learned a valuable lesson and it is important to pass along that lesson by following through with the complaint and standing up for yours and others rights. In addition, the person(s) responsible do not yet realize the seriousness or maybe they do and in time the truth will come to light. Turn your anger and disappointment into determination and education of others.
