Opinion
I was searching on the net to find some answers on what our daily nutritional goals should be. I know the obvious ones of water, supplements, & protein, but sometimes I wonder about my calories, fat grams, sodium, potassium, etc. Feel free to share what your docs/nuts say.
I also came across this blog post
It was a nice visual assessment of 300 - 400 calories for those of us further out post-ops.
Do you agree?
Amber,
First I wanted to thank you for the blog post with pictures of what the meals look like. I rather enjoy "seeing" things for myself than just "reading" them. It gives me fresh perspective on meals and ideas for them. I briefly looked at them and will come back to them. In fact, I plan on discussing this with my NP when I go in July. She has been a wonderful point of access for questions, concerns and food issues.
At this time, my diet and such are being revisited as some underlying health issues NOT related to WLS have surfaced and so I am not at a place where I can safely say what amount of calories, fat grams etc I am and will take in. In just a few more weeks I will have a much clearer picture on all of this. I can say that my bloodwork is FINALLY coming together nicely and the levels are looking so much better. The power of prayer and the blessings of God, an NP, support system and education provide for sure!
I'm sure open to this discussion and look forward to everyone's thoughts and opinions! Thanks for posting this!

Well....I'm scr*wed. I can't get that english muffin down - haha
I would recommend that you chat with your nutritionist. I say that, becasue my nutritionist understands my goals and needs because of my workout intensity and what I want to achieve.
My needs may not be adequate for you and your needs. People are shocked when they hear that I intake 130+ grams of protein a day. But, my nutritionist and I have discussed it several times and she is in agreement that it is working for me and that I can stay on that course.
While int he losing stage, I was intaking 50 - 75 grams of carbs a day. This wa fine, but now that my workouts have increased and I am in constant training, I was told to increase my carbs up to 100 per day. This would be too much for you as you are still in the losing stage and not working out at the same intensity.
So...see why I recommend that you chat with your nutritionist?
