Melinda- Did you try the protein ball recipes I sent you? I know it's not a huge amount of protein in each one, but it would be a step in the right direction.  Also, if you want to try the Profect Vials or Power Crunch bars let me know...I can send you a few that I have.

Yes, Profect is similar to New Whey (that Courtney suggeted).  They have more flavors than New Whey though.  Check out the flavors at www.profect.com/store and let me know if you'd like to try them, if you haven't already.

Melinda Do you like chocolate shakes? I use Revival Soy protein shakes and currently have chocolate. If you would like I will send you a few packets to try. PM me with your address. Jen

Prissy - I can gag from toothpaste (really) and I had to train myself to take chewable vitamins.  I refused to try any of the protein drinks until after surgery because I didn't want that to stop me.  Since surgery I've been using ProComplex Chocolate and Vanilla (27.5 g protein/scoop and 4 oz liquid) and not once has it made me gag.  The worst "smell" comes from cleaning out the shaker bottle I use, but I do that quickly and get it over with.  Then no smells or bad taste with the shake. I would be happy to send you a sample.  Let me know. I can imagine the prospect of going back to the liquid protein is daunting! By the way I got the shaker bottle from bariatriceating.com.  It came with the mini protein kit and includes a wire ball to aid in mixing.  Absolutely NO lumps and it's portable, unlike a blender! Best of luck!

Melinda Melinda....hey you are doing all of the right things.  You know one thing I thought of that no one mentioned is swimming....can you have your pcp write you a script to use the UVA wellness pool?  That I wouldnt think would be really hard on your back...and you would be getting your exercise....and water in....LOL only kidding...trying to make you laugh a little. Keep your chin up, and can't wait to see you as soon as I can....( I know that last statement didn't make too much sense, I am working third shift, and typing this at the same time). Talk soon, Steph
