No Appetite after surgery
Hi Lucky! Congrats on your surgery! Today is my 3 month anniv. and I've just gotten some sort of appretite back.
I liked it better not having one! For me, water was difficult. Make sure you try your best to stay hydrated and get as much water in as you can stand, not til it hurts though. I had to concentrate on ONLY protien and water for the first few months. AND, of course, the supplements in a week for you. Take care and enjoy the journey! Joy
I am sure your stomach is sore and your brain is not really feeling most of the hunger pains . I had RNY 3 years plus ago . I am never hungry . My doctor did what he calls putting the fire out . He cut my Vagus Nerve .. the nerve in the stomach that signals when you are hungry .. so .. me ..I have to make myself eat ... and that is great .. fine by me .. what a neat tool addition . You will get your appetitie back .. and just be ready to control it . Congrats on your sugery .
Vagotomy (cutting of the vagus nerve) is a now-obsolete therapy that was performed for peptic ulcer disease. Vagotomy is currently being researched as a less invasive alternative weight loss procedure to gastric bypass surgery[2]. The procedure curbs the feeling of hunger and is sometimes performed in conjunction with putting bands on patients's stomachs, resulting in average weight loss of 43% at six months with diet and exercise[3]. Five pencil-sized scars are the result of the procedure.
