Great news Ann. I also ate ground beef and steak after 2 weeks (only twice for each since week 3 as I like fish better and it has less fat calories). The dr and nutritionist said there's nothing wrong with it if your system can take it and you chew it until it's like applesauce. The dr even stated to forget the term "pureed", which some people interpret as "liquified".
HOWEVER, that was MY doctor not someone else's and I took my clues from MY body and it worked fine for me. My dr was just so astounded that in the first 2 weeks I got in all my water (1st priority) and 90-100 g of protein (2nd priority) each and every day after I got home.
I'm happy for you that you checked with your medical team so you are confident in the steps you are taking. The doctors all have different protocols and your doctor's protocol matters for you but not necessarily for me.
Now don't forget to ask about the midnight hunger pangs. I want to know what that's all about!

If there is one thing I have come to learn from reading posts on this site, talking to other WLS patients and talking with different bariatric nutritionist's, it's that there are many different views of what you should do pre-op and post-op. In my nutrition class, the other students had a doctor *****quired a very regimented pre-op weight loss schedule and started everyone on a full liquid diet for the first week. My doctor, who has performed over 2,000 WLS cases with a wonderful track record just told me to "eat lightly" the day before surgery and started me on pureed food the first day after surgery. I've heard many variations on this subject and everyone is convinced that their way of doing it is the best.
Just butt'n in with my opinion. No one need accept it.
