Eatting Out Question

I havent had my surgery yet but my mother in law is almost two years post op and I have learned from her that you can tell the waiters that you have had the surgery ( if your comfortable with that ) and most the time they will let you use the childrens menu. She also will from time to time just buy a side of something because of the portion, or share a plate with a friend or buy an appietizer. I seen a few weeks back where TGI Fridays has a new addition to their menu. They call it right portion or something like that. It looked like they took their favorites ( most popular entree's and appiteizers ) and make them smaller portioned and also cheaper. Good luck Brandi~

In time you eventually learn what works for you. Everything depends on where I go out to eat. Say Outback? I tend to order a steak or chicken off the kids meal with green beans. It's perfect. It's a great portion for me and they have no qualms with people ordering off the kids meal or taking anything to go. Other restaurants, like someone else said, don't really have the greatest healthy kids meals. Most things are fried, which I don't eat. I dump on fat not sugar, weird. I like to order off the appetizer part as well. Or I will order a salad as an entree. I have no qualms about ordering a bunch of sides if I'm in the mood. I eat a lot of corn and green beans.  I also order regular meals and split them with others, or take them home. I just have a really bad habit of bringing stuff home and not eating it, so I try to avoid that because of money and waste.  While I don't go to fast food much, I believe its unavoidable at some point. If I were perfect maybe I would never have to go again, but that's not happening. So I've pinpointed a few things that I can eat at certain places. Wendys is probably the best bet for me. I always look for the drink. They have Light Lemonade. If I can't order something to drink, then I don't eat there. Chikafilet has Diet Lemonade too. Both have grilled chicken and salads. Tropical Smoothie is great. They have lots to chose from and can Splenda anything and add Whey Protein to anything. Hard on the carbs, but its worth it after all the nutrients/supplements and fluid I get.  That's just my experience. Good luck!
