I got home yesterday at about 3:00 PM, my insurance requirted I spend the night in the hospital.  I am in SO much pain right now, I can hardly walk. They sent me home on Ultram because I can take very few pain medications without being sick to my stomach.  I am on the phase 2 diet which is good! However, I am not eating a lot, and I feel I should eat more. I just can hardly walk to the kitchen to make anything.  I have questioned myself ever since, wondering did I do the right thing?! I hope this is normal, that you question yourself after surgery. The night before surgery I cried all night wondering if I was doing the right thing. Its so tough.  If I wasnt in so much pain I think it would be better for me. I dont think I would question it as much. I may have to call the doctors and get something different for pain.  Anyway, I thought Id let you guys know I am home, and borderline okish for now.

Welcome to the bench!  Make sure you are drinking and sucking on sf popsicles to keep hydrated. I had no pain from the procedure at all. About a week out I had to take Lortab liquid. because I pulled a muscle on the right side near the jp drain site.  If  your pain med isn't working make sure to call your surgeon. It will get better!

First and foremost - welcome home.  I am sure that everyone has that nagging question for a while after surgery, but from what I have learned, read, and researched - everyone would do it again in a heartbeat.  Your life will be much more fulfilled.  I can't wait to join you on that side.

Lap Band on 07/16/07 with
Hey there, fellow lapbander!!!  Welcome home! Sweetie, I understand your doubts completely.  It will pass, especially when you start seeing the numbers on the scales go down.  The first few days are kina rough.  Have faith...this too shall pass.  The most important things to remember is to keep hydrated & no matter what questions you have, call your doc or wl team.  That's what they are there for.  I am 16 days post-op with my lapband & my innards are STILL healing.  Apparently the bowels take the longest to heal so patience is the key word for awhile.

Hugs!
Ann

Welcome home and to the losers bench! It's natural to question your decision when the pain is still going on....it will pass and you will (hopefully!) be very happy with your decision.

Welcom to the losing side and welcome home.  I am sorry to hear you are in pain.  Keeping trying to walk some to get the gas out and make sure to sip on your water.  Don't worry too much about being able to eat enough the first few days.  It will take awhile to get it in.  Just concetrate on the water and protein.  Hope you feel better soon.

Your doc can prescribe a strong anti-nausia med along with a stronger pain med. That's what mine did - I have a low tolerance for codeine, but with the anti-nausia med I was OK. Hope you feel much better soon, and I have no doubt that you will glad about your surgery in a week or two. Joe (22 days post RNY)

Glad to hear you are home.  Sorry you are not feeling too well.  I would definately give the Dr. a call and get some meds to help you through the next few days at least. Then maybe some of the soreness will be gone and you'll feel much better. I wonder sometimes...how I might feel the night before?..the morning of?...etc... I know i'm making a educated decision and what I feel is the best for my health and therefore best for my Family as well. I hope you feel much better real soon! God Bless.....

Sorry that you are having a lot of pain.  Is your pain all over or just near a couple of the incisions?  I called them to ask why one side was in so much pain, while the other has none.  The Dr. on call told me that the camera movements can cause quite a bit of pain and that it's totally normal.  They will give you something else for the pain, and it sounds like you need it.  Good luck getting in your protein.  Those Carnation shakes were a lifesaver the first two weeks, for me.  I could sip those, even when I didn't feel like eating. Hope that you are feeling better soon.

Welcome Home!!!  And welcome to the bench - it's great to have you with us!   You've been given great advice - call your doctor is the pain isn't manageable with the meds you have and above all, keep sipping, dehydration is a prime concern in the first few days.  I'm an RNY, so I'm not too familiar with the LapBand-ish pain, but I'm sure it will pass...hang in there.  It's normal to question a major, life changing decision - but know that this decision will bring you a much healthier future.  Hang in there and keep us posted on your progress - you're gonna do great! Hugs, Chele
