I have never been lactose intollerant before but now I'm beginning to wonder. I made the transition from 2% to 1% without any qualms, but lately I've been experiencing a lot of gas.  Is that a symptom of intollerance or is that normal?  Also, my doc had me add Benefiber to my diet & I've been adding it to my milk.  Do you suppose that might be causing the gas?  Not sure which way to go with this one.

Hugs!
Ann

Hiya Ann, I have had a lot of gas since surgery. How about trying Gas X strips?  Intolerance was described to me as cramping, the sudden urge to go and the runs.

Ann, I have a good friend who suffers from lactose intollerance, and she get**** with severe diarreah (spelling) when she has what she shouldn't.  I'm not a huge veggie eater, so to keep "regular" I've had success with adding FibreSure and/or Benefiber to my diet - and let me tell ya - it's the only thing that gives me gas.  I can always tell when I've remembered to add it to a shake or drink.  That would be my bet! Thanks for your good wishes for my earlier post - Gotta tell ya, I was whooping it up here this morning after giving thanks for my scale (never would have thought that my scale and I would be on speaking terms again after the last few years!)  Love your idea of a clothing swap - Dr. A's group has the Staples Club and we do clothing swap there with the other NOVA folks...it's helpful - meetings are at his office on the 2nd Thursday of each month with Sally, his nutritionist.  But, I'm always looking for other ideas - and I'm with you, clothes are costly (especiallly suits for work) and with the way we hope to slide through sizes, it's going to get expensive.   I finally took a head shot - I'm gonna get my husband to help me figure out how to get it on my profile so my ugly mug is up with the rest of the gang..  Have a great day! Lactose Intolerance is often characterized by severe cramping and diarrhea.  The Benfiber may be the culprit but I'd hate to see you stop that. You probably need it with all the diet changes. Gas X may help to give you some relief. Good luck

Gosh ya'll are smart!!!!  No wonder I come here!!!  I have the gas-x but I guess I should use it more often.  I think ya'll are right...it's probably the benefiber.  Maybe cut back slightly.  I'll play around with the two & see what happens. Thank you all ever so much!!!!

I'm sorry not to have any advice for you, but I have suffered from gas almost every day. However, now you know why it's called GAStric Bypass  or other GAStric procedures!!
