VA Beach Question
Hi VABers
I'm trying to find a hotel in VAB. I found a Fairfield Inn at 21st & Altantic Ave. Is that a good area? Good beach location? How far from boardwalk?
Now for the fun part - what are your favorite restaurants? I need some that are not purely seafood as I'll be with someone who is allergic to seafood.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
21st is smack dab in the middle. I would personally suggest staying below 10th or above 28th. Its all busy this time of year but the majority of the bars are right in the middle. If you are into that then that is the place for you. Catch 31 is really good... as is Mahi Mahs. Both are seafood & everything else. Black Angus is across from Mahi Mah's. There is also the Jewish Mother which is Pacific & 31st. Hope you have a great time!!!
The hotels are extremely pricey right now, but if you've got the money go for it. All the Atlantic street hotels are on the boardwalk. It's a smidge cheaper to stay on one on Pacific and its a blocks walk to the boardwalk. I live off 24th Street and still walk. There are tons of restaurants. I go to a lot which are on Laskin Road, which is 31st. No Frill Grill, Coyote Catina, Outback, Catch 31, Kellys, El Azteca, Blue Moon, etc.
Good luck with your search!
HI,
There is a new Mariott Springfield Suites that is really nice. I recently stayed at Turtle Cay Resort (across the street from the ocean but has 2 awesome pools and 2 hot tubs.) The Clarion across the street seemed nice, and this is where that hotel's exercise center was located.
Restaurants...tons...agree w/ previous posts and I will add Watermans.
Try the Caviler .. it is where we will all be sunning and by the pool .
I think the link is www.cavalier.com
Thanks .. see ya there ..

It's fine. Everything is very accessible. There is a trolley that runs from one end to the other.
Last weekend, I was at the new Hilton with the shops attached. Laskin Rd and Atlantic. It was beautiful. That's where Catch31 is and Starbucks in right there, also the Jewish Mother and Bank of America just 1 block up on Pacific. No matter where you stay, everything is fairly close. I think that Fairfield is new, too. Beach on one side and boardwalk on the other.
Try to stay away from Chichos and Crazy Charlies at night as they are Dumps w/Drunks...and always issues/fights.
