Stuck & discouraged

Ok, I am developing a love/hate relationship with my scale.  I have been stuck at the same weight for a week now.  Haven't lost ANYTHING.  On the good side, I haven't gained.  I'm eating & drinking like I'm supposed to.  I don't get it.  Maybe using my stationary bike today will kick start the loss again.  I'm just frustrated & impatient.  I have 17 days to lose enough to get into my dress & be comfortable.  Ggggrrrrrr!!!!!

Hugs!

It will move soon Ann. You are probably loosing inches.  It's so hard when we don't see movement on the scale isn't it?  Big hugs to you.

Ann sweetie stay away from the scales for a while! I did this daily and boy did I get in trouble, when I went in for check up's my dear b/f said to my Dr she has become obsessed w/ these scales the Dr took him out of the room they came back a few mins. later. Well never thought any thing about it until the next time I went for my scales they were gone!!! My Dr had told him to remove them out of my sight and I had to ask permission to use and so I had to make a deal once every 2 weeks to weigh. And then its less discouraging because you will see it move. But then if its not then you get Mad : ). Just  a thought Good Luck....

ROFL!!!!  Hid the scale from you?  That's hysterical...AND a good idea.  I WISH I could do that, but because I have high probability, at least for now, to contract congestive heart failure (CHF), I have to monitor my weight on a daily basis.  This has been so even before the surgery.  It gets kinda tricky sometimes balancing the requirements of my cardiologist & my surgeon.  However, as the weight continues to slide off, my cardiologist is very optimistic that I can actually reverse some of the damage my heart has sustain thus far, which is TERRIFIC news to me.  A further plus since the surgery is that my diabetes has improved just with the 20 lbs loss.  I was worried about discontinuing my glucophage because it's a time release & they can't be crushed up like my other meds can, but my numbers have been terrific.  Can't wait to get blood work done to see how my A1C looks, as well as my cholesterol level.  I really am enjoying eating the good foods & don't hardly miss the junk at all.  Truth be told, other than my penchant for ribs (hint, hint Tink!!) & chinese fried rice, the changes I've had to make really have only been about the real small portions.  It cracks me up when I order off the kiddie menu (when I can find healthy stuff, that is) & wind up taking home half of it.  On the other hand, I am much more aware of the sabotage that restaurants do to the American public.  Truly, the kiddie portions are the size that most GROWN UPS should be eating & the kids should only be getting about half that or less.  No wonder the majority of our American populace are overweight. Well, anyways, thanks so much for the encourgement, sweetie.  I really value your fellowship more than you might realize.  That goes for ALL of you!!!

Hugs!

Well at least you got a good laugh : ) but serious I still have to ask for him to get the scales  but thats ok I was driving myself and him totally mad and depressing myself  but I love him for it and it just works other wise Id be on those darn things every time I passed by them, But I understand your situation to, good luck and keep hammering. I was off all my Diabetic meds lets see surgery was 10/31/05 and by 12/12/05 74 pounds were gone and so were  the diabetic meds, and by Feb. of 06 my depression was in remission is what they called it and they pulled me off those meds as well. So its coming just w/ time. Hang in there....

Please be patient with your body! You're right at the stage where your body has started to wonder if you're ever going to feed it again...lol.  I bet if you went to your "month board" you'll find that several people are experiencing a similar stall. Exercise is good EVEN IF the scale doesn't move immediately!  Keep working the tool you've been given...and your body will eventually cooperate again.  (OH...and don't forget that as women we have the added bonus of our cycle to contend with. I always have scale frustration around that time of the month.) BE ENCOURAGED!

Hi Christina!!  Patience is something that I need to learn to use on myself.  I have patience with everyone else around me, but I tend to push myself more than maybe I should.  As for exercise, I did a good thing today.  Last week I bought a pedometer.  Well, today I finally got it set up & wore it while out shopping.  I parked a little further from the store than I would have normally (which was usually in the handicap parking).  By the time I got home & checked my meter, I had walked 4,297 steps which equals 1.35 miles (OMG!!!) which means I burned up 289 calories...wooo hooooo!!!!!  So I may hate my scale right now, but I LOVE my pedometer...LOL!!! Oh, &....ummmm.....errrr......that monthly woman thing you mentioned?  I haven't had one of those since 1981!!!!  Had a full hysterectomy at age 26.  Only have one ovary & half the time we don't know if it's working or not.  Obviously that first week following surgery it must have been cuz remember me mentioning how *****y I was to my poor hubby.  I believe it was Courtney that explained that hormones are stored up in fat cells...something I did NOT know  (thanks Court!).  I was gonna get on my bike tonight but hubby just suggested I wait until tomorrow morning to do that since I did the mile + this afternoon.  There's that lack of patience thing again.  I have to remember...baby steps.  But at least my baby steps added up to a mile....hurray!!!! As for being encouraged....I am, Lovie, thanks to all of you!!!!  I'm feeling soooo much better about all this.

Hugs!
Ann
