Only Walking?

I heard something interesting an info meeting with my surgeon the other night.  He doesn't want us doing any strenuous excercize for the first year. He wants the body in "breakdown" mode not muscle building mode.  He says only walking for the first year.  He said if we get into breakdwon mode then we could plateau as it sends the body a message to start building muscle or something like that...   This is the first I have heard of this.

Any of you familiar with this?

Interesting...I've not heard this either. BUT, it makes my Leslie Sansone DVDs all the better for me! :-)  They're a walking program!

That's a new one for me too. At my one month check up, my surgeon said I could start exercising  including weight lifting and sit ups.

Hi Amanda.  Hon, is it possible you might have misunderstood him?  Really the best way to find out is to call the office & ask.  Better to get the answers directly from your team.  That's my best advice...call them & ask.  And please let us know what you find out.

Hugs!
Ann

Hmmmm...different from what I was told too.  The idea is to lose fat not lean and exercise is one of the ways to ensure that.

Not  what I heard either.  We were told we couldn't do anything strenous for 6 weeks because of risk of hernia, but were encourage to do more after that to help with the toning of the body and loose skin issues.  I agree with Ann, when you go for your consult, ask.  A good idea is to start a notebook now with questions you want to ask that way you don't forget anything.

Not what I heard either.  We were told nothing strenous for 6-8 weeks because of risk of hernia, but were encouraged to do more after that to help with toning & extra skin.  I agree with Ann about asking the doc.  A good idea is to start a notebook with questions you want to ask so you don't forget anything and take it with you to your consult.
