I have a couple of more questions...

I have been wondering where you can get the protein that doesn't have any taste to it? Didn't I see something on here that they make it?  Ok second question- how long before the threat of throwing a clot is over?  I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about it.  I asked my Dr. what the chances are and of course it's low considering they get you up and moving. I just have to ask the 'What If" question. And before anyone asks if I really want the surgery. of course I do, just wanting to get all the info I can...I want to be prepared.

Being well prepared is exactly what you SHOULD be doing, so have no fear...you're doing great! And by all means, ask all the questions you want.  Education is power! Have you decided which procedure you intend to have?  I had lapband & from my own experience, in relation to avoiding blood clots, my legs were trussed up with some sort of leggings that had to be removed before I could get up & walk around.  But that was only for the time I was in hospital, which was only a little over 24 hours. About the tasteless protein powder, I know it exists, I just don't know where to get it.  Don't worry...somebody here will have the answer for you. Have a good weekend, hon!

Hugs!
Ann

I like Unjury protein, Matrix cookies n cream, and Nectar Lemon tea. They are all smooth and dont have that nasty after taste. Check out www.unjury.com and www.bariatriceating.com  As for throwing a clot--I'm not sure how long. When I woke up in the ICU stepdown unit (standard practice for my hospital/surgery) I had these pressure thingy's on my legs. They inflate and squeeze your legs every few seconds. That night I was up and walking around. Good for you for asking the questions! Learn all you can.

Great job on staying informed and being prepared.  Protein tastes very per person.  I like the isopure zero carb dutch chocolate and the protein vials.  As for clots, I was told a few weeks for the risk, to make sure that after I got home I was still up and moving every hour or so (unless I was sleeping).  Another piece of advice is to start exercising now if you can, even if it is just walking.  That way  your body is a bit more prepared and you get your blood moving now.

My doc has us giving ourselves daily Lovenox shots for two weeks after we leave the hospital. So I'm gonna take an educated guess that a 2 week period is critical, but I'm pretty sure you can develop one at any time if you don't get up and move daily.

On the protein, you can get unflavored whey protein from Unjury, the Vitamin Shop and GNC.
