My turn to complain!!!!!
I started my 6 day liquid diet today and i'm dying over here. I keep trying to convince myself that i'm not hungry, but yeah that's working, not!!! I've had my protein drinks and broth and water and am peeing every 30 minutes.... But ugh!!!!! I just figured if i vented and got it out i'd feel better, now i have to go to the kitchen and make the kids dinner, cause Jeff is working till midnight tonight, tomorrow and friday night, and then after that he's going to be taking care of dinner while i hide upstairs or outside.... i'm sure after i get through the first day i'll be better, but in the mean time i'll just whine like a baby!!!!!
Ohhh honey...whining is soooo allowed here! Even some screaming & hollering. Throwing things is probably not such a good idea, but definately whining.
Being a lapbander, myself, I didn't have to do a week of liquid diet BEFORE surgery, but I did have to do it the week AFTER & it sucked!!!
I got a lot of support from the folks here & that helped me out. I also tried to look at it from a psychological view...better to "practice" before the surgery so that you have at least a head start on modifications that will be necessary for your well being after. We all have had to adjust to stepping out of our comfort zones & stepping into a whole new world. We are learning to erase old tapes that weren't working for us in the past & starting new ones that makes our new tool help us like it should. So while you ARE experiencing physical change, you are also experiencing psychological changes. Does that make sense?
Don't get me wrong...I was FAR from perfect. To some degree I fought the new changes but in a short time I made adjustments. The best advise is when in doubt, call your weight loss team. That's what they get paid the big bucks for.
Last but not least...what if one of your kids was going through this liquid diet thing? Would you let them off the hook, knowing that it was important to follow doctors orders? NOOOOOO! LOL Well, mother your inner child & make her understand that there's a reason for each step that you take on this new journey. Just know that in a few weeks, you will be advising other "newbies" on how to get past where you are now.
You're gonna be fine & you will succeed.
Stay strong & keep it up. You can do it. Soon you will be on the losing side and all of the trials from the beginning will seem so far away and so little. Keep up with those protein drinks, add some extra ones in if you feel like you are starving. Get some unflavored protein (unjury, etc) and add it to your broth to make it more filling. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

I ache for you. It's got to be so hard to surround yourself with food for others! You're down to 5 days now and Jeff will take over 3 of those days, right? Keep this picture in mind: Immediately post-op you won't want ANYTHING to eat and will struggle to get in what you're consuming now.
You're almost there!
You go ahead and vent away! That's what we're here for...I was fortunate that my doctor didn't require the liquid diet routine, but I feel for ya!
As all the others have said, you CAN DO THIS!
Stay strong and know that this is just a few days out of the rest of your new, healthy, wonderful life! If you can do this, think of how easy it will be after surgery when you'lve really got no appetite at all. I'm about 2 1/2 months out and I still have to set alarms to remind myself to eat! Seems ironic for me, considering that I couldn't get a fork out of my mouth for nearly 20 years....now I have to be reminded to eat! It will be a whole new world soon and you can look at this as the first of may tests to come....and you will pass!!!! With flying colors.
Come back anytime you feel the need for solids..we'll convince you that your clear broth is something wonderful!!! Hang in there!!
Hugs,
Chele
