HELP! I am getting desperate!!
I just moved to Virginia Beach on August 5. I had hand-assisted laparoscopic RNY surgery in Cincinnati, OH on June 26. Right after my surgery I discovered this wonderful website and looked up a surgeon in Norfolk for after I moved. Unfortunately, when I called Dr. Mark Fonatana's office , they said he needed my records before I could even SCHEDULE an appointment. So I filled out all the forms for Deaconess Surgical Weight Loss Center to forward my records to Dr. Fontana's office. I had my 4-week post-op with Dr. Rodgriguez right before I moved and made sure my records were being sent to Dr. Fontana. Everything seemed fine physically, but I didnt want to be without a surgeon at any point and know it is hard to get an appointment right away.
Well, long story short, after calling Dr. Fonatana's office several times with no call backs I finally showed up at his office and found out my records were not there. They still would not give me an appointment without them, so I called Dr. Rodgriguez's office AGAIN and they said they had sent them. So now what do I do???? I am the sole caregiver for my son, who starts law school at Regent this week and I am having some issues, probably due to lifting too much, not eating right and missing a bunch of vitamins during the horrendous week-long move from one house into two apartments. Anyway I really need to see a doctor as soon as possible. I was hoping to see the surgeon first, and get a recommendation for a Primary Care Physician, but with this hold up I guess I will just try to see a PCP first ((if I can find one AND my records can get transferred)
Can anyone recommend a doctor??? Either a surgeon who will at least schedule an appointment for me so I don't have to wait so long, or a PCP?? Or does anyone have any suggestions about what I can do about the missing records?? Thank you!
Diane

HI Diane
I can't recommend a doctor in Virginia Beach since I am so far away from there..However about the records, maybe calling them back and suggesting they copy them and mail them to you and you take them to Dr. Fontana. I know that is a long wait..but in the meantime ..if yo u can find a PCP...that may be your only option for right now until you can get those records to him or find another surgeon to go to. I think either way any of them will have to see your records. Good luck with this. Lifting that much right after surgery...still not quiet 2 months out can cause hernias and other problems.. I know you probably didn't have an option but still...No matter what we are doing in our lives..our health needs to come first!!! No matter what our schedule is...first on our schedule needs to be our protein and water and VITAMINS.. we thrive on these things because we absolutely need them... Please try really hard to do what you know you must! NO matter what!
