it all started last wenesday when i woke up at 4 am i drove my self to the er, they did an ultra sound suspected gallbladder, they wanted a hyda scan or something like that done, so i got transferred to a bigger hospital, bayside, and there they did ct, hyda scan and more blood work, long story short they said diverticulitus, and sent me home with 2 strong antibiotics and dilaudid at the end of the night i was home finally. i was in the worst pain i had ever been in since i can recall. and dilaudid didnt touch it. thurs, friday and saturday, went by and the pain had improved by 50% but on sunday i woke up and my upper stomach looked so huge i looked like i was 6 months pregnant, and i had some cankles which im not acustomed to lately. so i drove myself back to bayside with my papers from wednesdays er papers, luckily i was takend back with hardly any wait and the same doc was there and she knew what was going on, they did another ct scan with die and contrast and the gi docs came back and said they were admitting me because my colon was such an imflamed mess, she said it was really bad an had a potential for forming an abcess. so they put me heavy iv anti biotics and npo, then clear liquids, and thursday evening i got to come home. things are better but im still very tender and can do no lifting and i have to take it easy. i have to have a colonoscopy done but not for 6 weeks cause she doesnt want to aggrivate my colon in anyway right now. i guess diverticulitus can get serious, and i pray i never have to go thru this ever again, it was horrible. especially when i heard her say something about surgery and a poop bag for 3 months stuck to my belly while my colon heals! eeeeeek! soooooo, i wont be able to come too me everyone and im very disappointed there were so many i wanted to meet in person and i may not get the chance like this again. i hope everyone has a good time though and please post lots of pics online for us to see, im going to see what the heck i can read and find out about this thing i have going on now. take care everyone and have some fun for me too! shelly

Shelly, sweetie, I'm so sorry to hear things have been so tough for you lately.  I'm sure we all wish there was something we could say or do to make you feel better. Oftentimes, when I'm down like that, I find some comfort, if only mentally, from doing some sort of handicraft, like crocheting or knitting or something easy like that.  If nothing else, it keeps my hands & my mind busy & I feel like I'm accomplishing SOMETHING while laying around, resting.  Just an idea, honey. Get well soon & keep us posted when you feel up to it.

Hugs!
Ann
