Im just curious but what proof of the surgury do you get after it is done?  Does the Dr show you what they removed?  Do they give you before and after x-rays?  Just curious.

I didn't get any "proof" so to speak, other than my scar! I knew pretty quick that this was for real. I was a BIG gulpper pre-op...and I filled the funnel too fast fairly early and DID feel the uncomfortable feeling. Besides, how else could I explain losing so much weight so rapidly!   I suppose if you arranged it with your Dr. you could ask to see something...but honesly, if you're that worried about the Dr, I'm not sure I'd let him/her operate on you!

I had an upper gi done the morning after surgery and saw the x rays myself and know that my surgery was done correctly but so many surgeons do things so many different ways.....

You can ask for copies of your surgery report that show what was done but actually the proof is in the eating so to speak -  try eating too fast and watch how you feel like you are having a heart attack, eat something too dry and see how you feel like that too, get something stuck and see how bad you feel - all of these are proof I had the surgery and if I slip back and do any of these, I always vow it won't happen to me again! I have dumped once and still not sure why but I do know that I can dump - and I felt like I was having a real bad dose of the flu complete with nausea - I had to go and lie down for a couple of hours to feel better.  And the real proof, to me, is that a shrimp appetiser with a little broccoli will fill me up totally - heck before surgery I would have the appetiser, then a main course, bread and maybe dessert  - I can't even envisage eating all that now! And I thank my surtgeon every day for that!! Jackie

Well that is very good to know.  I am actually looking forward to those bad things asa way to help me lose the weight.  I'm a stike a match and burn my finger kinda learner.  But I have to burn my finger a few times before I learns it.  But without that burned finger I don't learn it so I'll be glad to learn my limits after I have this thing done to me.

I understand  - I am a little that way too but with this surgery I feel it is better to NOT test the limits as the fear of it prevents me doing much that I shouldn't.... Jackie

I don't think I'll do this... BUT .. My surgeon offers that if you  bring in a DVD then he'll record the surgery for you.  I know myself pretty well, but I don't think I want to see that part of me
