I QUIT TODAY!!!
So today I started taking Chantix to stop smoking. I guess it's not that abd since for the first week you are on it you still smoke. My actual quit day is next monday the 3rd of Sept. This is one of the other things I HAD to do to make sure nothing stood in my way of the surgery. Dr Spencer's office says that they will CX the surgery if you are still smoking. So here I go.....Wish me luck!!!!

WAY TO GO!!!
I quit using chantix on 5/15. After about 1/2 way through the first week I didn't want it although the habits were still there if that makes sense. So I used the support website, did the activites and now I can be ok in a car without smoking, I'm ok after work and meals with out smoking.. it's GREAT!!
I still struggle from time to time with different stress situations and drinking, but I am conquering those slowly but surely!!!
Good Luck!

Congratulations on your choice - you will be so happy you quit! You can do this - and like Joe said - we're here for you - just stop by anytime for some support - venting encouraged!!
Just keep your eye on the prize....this surgery will change your life - and think of all the new clothes you'll be able to buy with the money you're saving not buying cigarettes!
Keep busy and hang in there!
Hugs,
Chele
Hi Laura Jean,
Take one day at a time..
I used to love to smoke...
However, I quit smoking three and half weeks ago for lap band surgery.
The first week was the hardest, I had chewing gum, hard candy, and just rode it out!!
Keep your stress level low, and tell your friends/family even co-workers that you quit so they can be supportive.
Today it is so much easier and I have not smoked!!
Although I think about smoking I no longer crave the Niccotene.
I also keep myself away from other smokers and bars.
You will be in much better health for surgery if you stop and in the long run it will add years to your life!
Here is a helpful website.

Keep up the good work..YOU can do it!
