Honey, all kidding aside, I know from whence you come.  Our own Tucker had to have major surgery when Mike accidentally ran him over with the horse trailer.  We didn't know that Tuck was napping underneath. He was only 9 months old at the time.  All of a sudden I heard him screaming then I began to scream for Mike to stop.  Tucker's hind leg was pinned underneath one of the rear tires & was being stretched forward.  We rushed him to the vet & x-rays showed that his femur had been completely dislocated & was sitting on top of his spine.  Up to that point Mike really thought he wasn't hurt too bad.  When he saw the x-ray though, he was devestated!!  The final outcome was that they had to remove the head of his femur completely (the ball).  They assured us that it would form another sort of ball with scar tissue & cartilage & that it would fit into the socket nicely.  They were right.  He turned 1 year old on the 4th of July & he hasn't slowed down a bit.  He runs, he jumps, he does everything a happy dog is supposed to do.  Mike's guilt didn't ease up until all Tucker's fur grew back over the scar.  We love this dog soooo much...he looks right straight into our souls & fills us up with love.  I'm quite sure your Sophie does the same.

I'm so happy that she is doing well & that now you can stop worrying.

Hugs!
