please read and tell me what is right.
is 20g protein on the preop diet too low?
People with RNY or DS or VBS at least 60 to 80 grams of protein to start . Per My nutritonist .
20 grams does seem very low . This is the amount of protein you would get in a 5 oz steak .
Call your doctor and make sure the amounts are correct or incorrect .
ALWAYS .. follow your surgeons program . Do not ever do what anyone here does . We are all on our own protocol . If you want to change something in your diet , please make sure your doc approves it .
But 20 grams seems low to me ...
Please call them today !

I just asked my dr yesterday about long-term protein requirements. According to him without WLS, one should have about 50 g of protein per day. Many don't because they fill up with fat and carbs. After WLS during the weight loss phase, he wants his patients to take in 90-100 g of protein per day; 60 g during weight maintenance. He's not concerned with whether the protein comes from supplements or food.
