The Race For The Cure

Hey Ladies and Gents.......... My family and I plan to participate in the Race for the Cure, and several of us have chatted over the past few weeks about putting a team of walkers and runners. I'm willing to "Captain" this team as a runner, but will need someone willing to be a "Captain" for the walkers side of the team.  Don't worry - really nothing but making sure that every *****gistered is there and no one feels left out. This is a 5K run/walk and the registration fee is: Individual Participant – Early Online Registration - $25 by 10/6 midnight EST      Individual Participant – Late Online Registration - $30 (10/7 – 10/18 noon EST)      Individual Participant – Pre-Race Day Mail-In & Walk-Up Registration - $30      Individual Participant – Race Day - $35 All entry fees include a Race for the Cure® T-shirt and refreshments on Race Day. Product samples from sponsors are also available on Race Day. So far,  me, my brother-in-law, his friend and my son will be there as runners, and my sisters and possibly my Mom as walkers (my Mom is a survivor and will actually be in a scooter). This is VERY non-intimidating so if you are just starting your exercise routine this will be something very positive to "train" for - even as a walker. As a group, we can come up with a Team Name, and my brother-in-law thought it might be cool to either make our own t-shirts or have something that signifies our group. If you know a victim of breast cancer, this is a GREAT way to celebrate them. We can meet at Mt. Trashmore on a weekly basis to "train".  Walkers can walk, runners can run, and those in the middle can do both.  I would prefer to do this on either Tuesday or Wednesday say about 630ish, so people can get homework and dinner completed and be able to enjoy themselves for an hour or so before the night time routine starts.  Plus, so many people are busy ont he weekends that it is often too difficult. Also, for those in Newport news, if you can find a place similiar to Mt Trashmore (a park with trails would be great), I'm willing to come and "train" with you guys as well.  It would have to be earlier than 630, because I would be doing it on my way home from work (so, about 500ish for me). This team would NOT be limited to OH VA board members, but family and friends as well.  They just need to register (so we need a team name quickly). Let me know your thoughts!

Ok, can't think of a name........first day on the bus and my brain is mush. I am not used to getting up at 5:30am. I know I'm a big baby, but this summer spoiled me. As for training.........Wednesday is good for me. We have cub scouts on Tuesday nights.
