A couple of day ago I went to my Nut. apt (30 days out) I had LAP RNY. I started at 408. According to their calculations I should have lost 52 lbs but have only lost 37! Now I am a little discouraged. What did yall do? I have been following "The Plan"

Dolly, I think 37lbs in 30 days is really very good!!  I think your nutritionist is being unreasonable and you will only lose at the rate your body will let you lose at......  don't let her discourage you - not many of us can lose 52lbs in 30 days!!!!!!!!!! I think I lost about 30lbs in the frst 30 days...... Jackie

Good am, Congratulations on losing 37 lb so far! That is wonderful! Please don't be discouraged. We have all faced times when we really feel like we should be losing more or the docs think we should have too. Truth be told it will happen when it happens. Following "the plan...." could you elaborate a bit? What are you eating and drinking? What is your protein intake? Are you excercising as best you can at this point? A little more information will help us help you! We ARE the experts! All best.....

Jeezss Louieeez .. 52 pounds in 30 days . .she is a nut .. to me that is beyond unreasonable .  At 30 days , I was only down 27 pounds . I think you are doing fine .  Keep to your regimine . The weight will come off .. this is a gimmee .. for the first 6 months you are basiclly starving yourself anyway .  It is so important though to get in your protein .  Best wishes to you ..  You are fine .  Tink

I agree with Nat - she's a nut not a Nut. Hahaha! At my first visit the nutritionist pointed out that the dr was evaluating me against a goal of 130, which she did not believe was reasonable and set my goal weight at 159.  So it may be the same case for you - with a lower goal weight they may have estimated a greater loss than reasonable. I too lost less than 30# the first month - I'm at about 45# lost post-op after 3 months and am thrilled to death with that as a start. I'm still on the journey... Cleo

Well I have to say I agree with the others.  At my 5 week appt. I had lost 29 lbs.  Keep following your plan.  My suggestions would be to definitely keep up with your protein and water.  If you are only hitting right at the 48 oz of water or just a little above it, try to increase it.  I found that I lost slower if I wasn't hydrated enough. My personal experience, I was a slow steady loser.  I would get so frustrated because I wasn't dropping the big amounts like everyone else.  My nut. talked to me about it and said that health wise that was better for me and it would be more beneficial for my loose skin issues.  All in all what happened was I made goal at about 16 or 17 months out and I never really had the long stalls.  I just kept slowly steadily losing weight. Keep up the good work.  You will get there.

YOU ARE DOING GREAT!  I usually think that the nutritionist and docs have a good handle on how much and how quickly one should loose...but in this case....they are off their rockers!  37# in once month is AWESOME!   I gained almost 15# of fluid that took at least 3 weeks to lose and that was no fault of my own...(IVF, water retention, meds...)   Everyone loses different rates...you will too...keep up your spirits.
