ER trip last night...

So, I had to go to the ER last night...FUN! I have been feeling low energy and not well for a few days..constipated which was finally relieved at around 2am.  Anyway...last night my legs started hurting so badly I couldn't stand it.  So, I called Dr. Mo and he said that since I'm not a full one month out that I'm still at risk for blood clots so, take thee to IFOH ER.  So...I did. Well, I do NOT have a blood clot...thank you Jesus!  But, my body is eating itself.  LOL...I am apparently having some muscle wasting from lack of protein and that is causing the pain...that is now also in my arms but, less in my legs.  So, I am on an all protein liquid diet today and tomorrow in an effort to STOP the pain. I can't help but laugh when I think about how we finally came to the conclusion that THAT is what it must be...because the ER doc (who was funny and took plenty of time with me) just finally declared that my body is eating my legs!  Oh the horror!  Obviously...this is reversible but, I may not be an overly happy camper today due to the pain. My children are being angels today (NOT) and I am really in a foul mood.  I am literally having to stand over them to get them to actually DO anything today and that really upsets me as they are 5 and 3 and they should be able to listen without constant direction...I'm DONE.  DH, of course, is at work all weekend and gets a break from the madness. UGH!  Dr. Mo just called to check on me!  That was so sweet...it's nice to know that he cares about his patients.

You poor thing!  How much protein were you actually taking in each day?  Jeez I shouldn't be reading these posts so close to surgery, my nerves already have the best of me today Let us know how the liquid protein goes and if it helps the pain level.

Not much...actually.  I have been having an awful time with my protein because everything is SUPER sweet to me.  Stuff that I enjoyed before surgery is just way over the top as far as taste goes and I have a total aversion to it.  I have not gotten my unflavored powder yet which I think will be a huge help.  So, as soon as I get that...I hope to be in better shape.  In the meantime...I'm adding extra milk or water to whichever protein I'm taking and trying to get it down...it's not easy.   Don't worry...seriously, if this is the worst thing that happens to me...I'm not going to complain!  LOL...it was just like having a really really bad flu and the muscle aches that come with it.  It's totally gone right now.   Lisa

I am anxiously waiting to see what I can and cannot stand to eat after surgery.  Glad that you are feeling better.

Sorry to hear you are going through this but glad you have an answer.  Hopefully the protein will come in soon and you will be able to make something work.  Keep trying new things if you have too til you find one you can stand.  Have you tried blending it up, sometimes when you do that and it isn't so thick it doesn't taste as sweet.  Prayers coming your way.

Try getting some Isopure at Vitamin Shop or GNC. They are fruit drinks that are not very sweet, and you get 40 ounces of protein in one 20 ounce bottle. I couldn't get down any of the shakes and have been living on the Isopure, and have been able to get in all my protein with no probs. Good luck. BJ

Lisa, I don't mean to preach, but you must find a way to get your protein. Keep trying products until you find something you can tolerate. I think that an unflavored protein (like Unjury) should at least get you back on track. This is very important. When is your unflavored protein expected to arrive? If it is more than a day or two, let me know and I will try and get some out to you this afternoon. Joe
