New to Va. Forum -- Now POST OP!
Thanks so much to gmoxley, who was kind enough to come by and visit me while I was at Fair Oaks Hospital last week. He gave me loads of encouragement, plenty of smiles and information, to include this forum! Thanks for posting information on here about our visit, too!
I am officially post-op (lap RNY) and home...surgery Wednesday, home Friday afternoon. It has been an interesting few days. The most confusing part has been that I had no problem keeping stuff down at the hospital...came home and had basically the same stuff...no luck. Even a popsicle didn't settle yesterday afternoon...how weird is that?
If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I have noticed that I seem to tolerate COLD stuff much better than tepid or warm liquids...but I am totally confused on the turn around.
I look forward to making lots of new friends in this forum and hearing stories, suggestions...and hopefully being a good friend to many of you as well.
Have a great Sunday! GO SKINS!

Congratulations on your surgery and the begining of a new life !
Second .. YES GO SKINS !!
As to suggestions , listen to your body , eat .. sip , exersise and when in doubt call your doctors office or your nutrictionist . We all here have had some of the same experiences , walked the same walk . But for the most part , you should get your direction from your doctors office .
I can tell you from only my experience that my taste changed daily . One day I was ok .. the next I could try the same thing and be upchucking all day . So you must take it one day at a time . If you do start vomiting a lot , I would call your doctors office to be on the safe side . You are so new out , I would hate to see you have a stricture and it go unnoticed . So be mindful of the vomiting issues.
The best way to get information , or see how others did , is to read profiles . This is how I managed for my first year . I looked at those that where further out from me and found someone that was succesfull and I used her as a mentor . And with almost 4 years out , 200 pounds plus gone . I think I found a good one .
So many people here who are success stories . And all willing to share .
Welcome to the VA Board , we look forward to hearing more from you .

Thanks so much for the reply and the information! I am going to try some more today and make sure that my body isn't just a little slower to come around. I am planning on keeping in touch with my surgeon and dietician with any questions I have, believe me. Great advice though! I live in the Stafford area and would love to find out about the Richmond WLS conference. When you get a minute, if you could contact me about it, I would really appreciate it. Take care.
Good decision about the scale, Autumn. You certainly don't need to be discouraged at this point! Take it slow. Hydration first, protein second - your new mantra.
I have a whole closet full of clothes for you! All bought less than 2 years ago, so still in good condition and classic styles. They're just waiting for the new you!
