Ok, so even though my labs show my protein to be ok, I'm always worried that I'm not getting in enough.  Especially since from day two I have yet to be able to gag down those protein drinks.  However, I'm took a chance & purchased some stuff today & would like your comments. Any of you use or ever tried EAS Myoplex Original?  Rich Dark Chocolate Flavor?  According to the pkge it's 17 fl oz, 300 cals, 7 total fat grams, 20 mg cholesterol, 720 mg of sodium (wow!  that's a lot!), 875 mgs  potassium (which I need since I take a diuretic every day), 13 g. of carbs (that's MINUS the 6 g. of dietary fiber), & 42 g. of protein.  Since I've been getting hungry between meals & I'm waking in the middle of the night feeling like I'm starving to death, I thought I would break up the 17 oz into 3 servings.  Have 5.6 oz between meals & the last 5.6 when I get woken up. So what'cha think?  Sound like a plan?  Does it taste good?  Or did I waste my $$?

Hugs!
Ann

Ann, i've yet to find any protein drinks that i like, i can manage to choke down the chocolate body fortress, but even that gets old. I did get some from GNC when i took back the protein shots, those were horrible, i can't stand that protein after taste. The protein shots got thick when they got cold. So  i was like um no... i bought the chocolate caramel powder, my 3 yr old likes it but i don't... i do use the slim fast low carb drinks they have 20 grams of protein and my dr said they are fine to use... but i don't do them every day... Ann,  The best that I have found that I like is from Walmart or Sams.  It is EAS Whey Protein mix.  They have it in Chocolate and Vanilla.  It tastes great.   I also bought from GNC just yesterday a powder form of Isopure Alpine Fruit Punch that is 25 grams of protein for one scoop with 8-10 oz. of water.  It is quite good too.  I tried one of those bullet shot thingy's on the way home from GNC and I broke out in hives and was itching all over :)  so I won't be getting any more of those.

Now this is just my opinion.........but I would not use these as I think they are way too high in calories and carbs for me....... Calories 100 Total Fat 0 g Saturated Fat 0 g Cholesterol 0 mg Sodium 64 mg Potassium 31 mg Total Carbohydrate 0 g Dietary Fiber 0 g Sugars 0 g Protein 25 g Vitamin C 100% Thaimin (b1) 10% Riboflavin (b2) 10% Niacin (b3) 10% Pantothenic acid (b5) 10% Pyridoxine (b6) 10% Cyanocobalamin (b12) 10% Biotin 10% Folic acid 10%   As long as you tke them with food they are great, fast to take and my labs are excellent 18 months out...... Other protein drinks make me gag as I hate the protein taste........ Don't know if this helps or not...... but it is what I have been successfully doing....... and proteins are a very individual taste..... Jackie

I'm with Jackie...they seemed a bit high in the calorie range for a supplement. BUT, on the same hand, if it's the only protein you can find maybe just make adjustments for the calories? Does it say the type of protein? I'm assuming/hoping you know that we should be using Whey proteins.

Ingredients are: filtered water; MyPro Protein Blend (milk protein concentrate, calcium caseinate & whey protein isolate); corn maltodextrin, cocoa powder ( processed w/Alkali), less than 2% of: fructooligosaccharides, Vitamin & Mineral Blend (magnesium phoshate, potassium citrate, sodium ascorbate, vitamin A palmitate, Beta-carotene, Vit d3, di-Alpha-tocopheryl Acetate, niacinamide, zinc gluconate, calcium panthothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid, biotin, chromium chloride, potassium iodide, phytonadione, sodium molybdate, sodium selenite, cyanoccobalamin), high oleic dsunflower oil, natural & artificial flavors, cottonseed fiber, sodium hexametaphosphate, acesulfame potassium, sucroalose & carrageenan. Soooo, now what do ya'll think?  I do agree with Jackie to some degree.  It does seem high in calories, however, if I break it up like I mentioned in smaller portions over a 24-hr period, would that not make it ok?  Hmmm...looks like I better call my Nut. tomorrow. Thank you all for input.  As always, ya'll come through!

Hugs!

Ok .. going to be brutally honest .. waaaay to many calories for you . Have you tried any of the Nectar products?  If you are hungry , you may need to up your water and your protein . But try to get your protein in by low calories items .  I know you said you would break up the drink, but it is still to many calories .  Give the water as try .. and see if you can tolerate some of the Nectar prodcuts .  Hang in there  .  Natalie

Ok, with most of the votes in & the outcome pretty unanimous, I WON'T be drinking the stuff.  Glad I didn't buy alot...lol. So, now I have a confession to make.  I've been feeling guilty about it all day & not very happy with myself, although I"m not totally beating myself up.  However, if I'm to make this tool work, I need to be honest not only to myself, but to ya'll as well because we all depend on each other so much. I became pig woman for about an hour yesterday!!  I consumed half a 9 3/4 oz bag of fritos & pretty much a whole tub of onion dip.  THEN I followed that up with a Charleston Chew candy bar!!!  I have NEVER done that before in my life, but it just hit me...this insatiable need for something salty & something sweet.  I've read about & heard about people that binge, but I've never done it myself before.  Ironically enough I did not gain a single ounce!  I was shocked!  But even with that said, it shouldn't have happened.  What I don't understand is WHY it happened? I've been giving this a lot of thought all day today.  The only thing I can come up with as to why  that happened is that these past few days I've been very hungry between meals & it's waking me up during the night.  I did call the other day & made an appt to see Dr. Mo for a fill but that's 3 weeks away.  I don't think I can wait 3 weeks so I'm gonna call again in the morning, tell them what's going on, & see if they can work me in much sooner.  This kind of hunger is apparently a good sign that a fill is needed.  I think I've done pretty good losing nearly 30 lbs in 10 weeks, but it would seem I need my tool tweeked. But mostly, I needed to come clean, be honest, & share what I did with my "family" here.

Hugs!

Ann- Don't continue to beat yourself up...it's not productive. What you CAN do is just recognize what happened and move forward from it. Were you eating for an emotional reason? Were you stressed? Were you feeling sorry for yourself? Bored?  I've found that honestly the hardest part of this journey is the emotional/mental side. I STILL struggle with emotional eating....150 pounds lighter and over 1 year out! I've worked on recognizing the triggers and trying to keep things like fritos and onion dip (more like sweets for me!) out of my house....out of reach is harder to get into my mouth when the brain isn't cooperating!  Do some soul searching and just as you've been honest with us, get really honest with yourself. The reason is there....you just have to be wililng to find it.  SO...throw away the chips and dip....get back on track and continue to work your tool.  You CAN do this!! We love you at each stage of the journey...
